The reason they made an announcement this time is because of the "Yoshi P super buffed his main" memes with some people taking it seriously. Yoshi P had to make a statement so people don't think he's rigging CC for himselfIt's wild that they actually found the Black Mage PVP changes worth posting an announcement about. Normally I'd be somewhat optimistic about SAM because they've never really felt the need to address balance changes outside of Live Letters, but after this...? Hoo boy, that is not a good sign.
That makes a lot of sense. I guess something like that has more serious implications than the removal of Kaiten ever could.
I dont know how long you been playing but this community has a long history of brushing off all the valid criticism aimed at the game or dev team because (i think) they feel like its a personal attack, as they feel so parasocially close to XIV and the main face of the dev team, yoshiP. I've been bitching and moaning about packet loss and responsiveness issues in particular for as long as I can remember lol but I've barely ever gotten people to even acknowledge it because they're drowning in copium and happy with the state of things overall. Also how is it that "packet loss" got addressed only when it happened in JP when NA and EU have been complaining about that for months and years? How is it that this dev team is allowed to get away with behaviour bordering on xenophobia and still "praised" over and over again for whatever minor and less than inconsequential things they do?
I love the devs too they're fine, the game is good. But for a few years now the job design decisions they've made have just been baffling, look at the state of tanks and glare bots compared to how they were. Look at the absolute state of SMN.
I don't want SAM to be the next SMN. Come on u guys revert Kaiten like u did Hagakure.
Its funny because them addressing that while 99% of SAM mains are madging over here feels like preferential treatment in itself and actually reinforces these meme implications???

Agreed. Though, Yoshi-P should have still said sometung about Samurai. Remaining silent on it for so long really isn't the right move to make. Addressing PvP right now is important due to its massive success and the attention it has on it right now, but Samurai still needs to be addressed and mentioned by them in detail as to what they are going to do with it and our feedback we've been giving his team. People have already spoken about themselves feeling uneasy about other future job tweaks surrounding PvE because of what happened to Samurai. And ironically, Yoshi-P is creating a similar situation he had already intentionally made around Black Mage: creating rumors, unease and increasing negative attention surrounding the battle system of his game.
Yoshi-P needs to stop nerfing my mains or I will main Black Mage next.
PVP generally requires more active assessment and balancing in any game due to the inherently competitive nature of it. Not surprised really especially with how much pvp has blown up this xpac. It's wild that they actually found the Black Mage PVP changes worth posting an announcement about. Doesn't mean I won't be feel a bit bitter about it though since everyone is always telling me "oh, they won't adjust any jobs in a minor patch like 6.11 because that requires blah blah blah" and then jobs get adjusted in a minor patch, albeit, not the pve versions. So like... what the heck?
Hey guys.
Overseas the forum communities went a little crazy after the PvP adjustments. There's been a lot of WK bringing up guidelines and such as well because people are being too emotional in their posts. I mean...can you really help it though? There is only so much constructive feedback before all that's left is frustration. The speed in the PvP responses has made even more memes. There are a few posts who make half hearted ideas to change the job, which people fear might be adopted because there might be no context.
If you have the chance, post again with your constructive feedback ad nauseum (Or your own thread). Maybe we should make twitter memes at this point while we're at it. lol. I want 6.08 and Kaiten back.
Nothing wrong with a good meme. I think we all know exactly how they feel; we were all kinda shocked at the speed of the pvp changes, even understanding the context behind it all what with pvp being far simpler by comparison.Hey guys.

I noticed a lot of piling up on a single person for being "too emotional" and how the developers will disregard feedback if it was unfavorably worded on the JP forum. This is flabberghasting because I cannot think of a single business that has succeeded by "ignoring feedback" regardless of how it was phrased, or even making an announcement that "harsh feedback will be disregarded". I feel this game's devs are out of touch with the playerbase at the very least and have let their past success go to their head if they think disregarding feedback is a viable path to success. At this point, I am just waiting to clear DSR to quit the game because I feel bad about leaving my static in the lurch halfway through prog, and I cannot care less if the devs keep on this self-destructive path because this is no longer the game I used to enjoy and love.Hey guys.

Agreed 100%. I personally cannot wait until 6.2 comes and not only are the SAM changes/feedback not addressed they do the same to DRG and/or AST and completely screw the jobs over.
What's especially frustrating is that with them moving to 4 month cycles for major patches the "wait and see" approach is even more ridiculous. To absolutely destroy a job and ask players to "try it and see" is beyond asinine. We aren't your QA testers Yoshi-P, either have competent people making job adjustments or have a PTR where these changes can be tried and feedback can be collected there without having to go live with this garbage.
