I played it for about a week after the initial release because of the Ultimate and it was awful. Swapped back to Ninja to finish off the ultimateHey all.
One question for you guys - Are you "used to it" by now? How the job plays currently? Because that has been sprinkled here and there as an argument to keep the changes. Because people have already adjusted to these changes, "It's impossible to return to 6.08".
Personally speaking...don't be ridiculous. How in the world did you get "used to it" when the changes were first put in? Are you saying people are incapable of adjusting back to what we once had? Rather, this is a mindset of one who feels inconvenienced and nothing more regarding the job.
On another note, Meditate has been brought up as being hard to utilize in it's fullest, especially in Ultimate. People argue that the reward is nonexistent, more so now that we lost all meaning in the Kenki gauge.
Depends what you mean by 'used to it'.Hey all.

I can perform just fine with the changes, they aren't too drastic to where it's effecting my ability to play correctly.
It's still soulless and dull, and I hate the Tenka gonken and Iaijutsu change MORE as time goes on. I don't feel like I'm doing much anymore.
I'm only used to it because it's an easier version of the job. It just feels like playing a shell of a job I once mainedHey all.

No.Hey all.

It still feels terrible and like something is missing. Overall feel of SAM feels sloppy and non-engaging.
In fact it has driven me to explore other classes, which didn't really replace/fill in for the feel of SAM, and following this, have gradually stopped logging in and haven't been playing.
I still feel that anything but a revert back to pre-6.1 and more importantly, class design in the same direction that was originally intended for the class and what we have experienced, engaged with, and enjoyed for the past 4 - 5 years, will fail and fall short.
I strongly disagree with the simplification of the game and will be the prime factor in me not playing FFXIV anymore. SE can change their game in what ever direction they want. But I did not play FFXIV for bonehead, hand holding simple. In fact, I played FFXIV for the very exact thing they removed, the fun SAM gameplay.
If its not in the game anymore, I'll find something more enjoyable, and clearly I shouldn't be looking for that enjoyment within the same game, if this is their planned direction. If I want to play a cellphone mmo, I would have picked out a cellphone mmo. I didn't have any expectation that a enjoyable PC mmo that I have invested plenty of time in, would divert path, mid-product life and try to become a cellphone mmo.
I have refused to play Samurai in PVE content since 6.1, I refuse to play something that is intentionally less interesting to play.Hey all.

Instead I've taken back up NIN, my main since 3.0 to prog dragonsong ultimate.
IMO, NIN being able to hit 100k+ Direct Crit Hyoshos destroys any argument for SAM auto critting.
My DSR static had a SAM subbing in once, and he was just hating life in there.
P1 can't effectively double dot cuz adelphel jumps away (dots dont tick during jump aways)
P2 can't dot at all due to jump aways, sen alignment and kenki generation is also a mess
Meditate being effectively useless due to the movement requirements, I often see him run to a safe spot for 1 part of the mechanic, holds up sword to meditate, and immediately forced to move elsewhere, I doubt he even got any meaningful gain from it.
I felt so bad for him because he is a nin main but I don't have another non-sam/nin melee at bis to swap to.
Im still annoyed.. and completly unmotivated, i adjusted but i hate it... i still call for a roll back and proper thinking over the changes, the more i use tenka goken the way it is now, the more i hate it... forcing a melee casting in the middle of a mobgroup and making us hope the tank stands still is not making it better, its even more worse, its disgusting... this is NOT a well thinked decision, thats an insult...Hey all.

The flatted out dmg from the rotation overall is still not making it better... it feels horrible even after that times, i just can repeat myself.. samurai feels like a bad cooked dish from kitchen nigthmares, blant.. without life, no excitement and no feeling.
and about button bloat or making the class more accessable for beginners... thats not in any way true, nothing will change, the beginners and people that have no clue what they are saying or thinking because they are lazy will not improve at all, they will remain lazy and will not try to learn samurai properly... maybe if you remove everything and make it a one button class, i mean the way leads to it right now lol... i still see bad samurai behavior as tank/samurai player, and i dont need a plugin to see that, opening your eyes on your teammates is enough, in short: change is bad, it did nothing at all.. only making people mad and newbie players that are lazy... are still lazy.

Been kind of dog water I really miss kaiten and I I find the auto crits really clumsy and a heavy handed way of solving something which should be part of every MMO and RPG; RNG. I mean it works SAM pumps but cast time for heavy hitters when heavy hitters don’t hit heavily? Counter-intuitive.
But I’m naive I hope they revert or find some of sort of solution compromise which doesn’t completely undermine their more dedicated players. Then again I’ve been running away from this trend of simplifying video games for a while, there’s clearly no escape.
Yeah, when I DCH Hyosho I get a nice little rush. Even if I don't, I can always say "still better than ogi namikiri lolol"I have refused to play Samurai in PVE content since 6.1, I refuse to play something that is intentionally less interesting to play.

Anyway, that was my experience when I first played samurai in Dragonsong and the combination of it being nuked into braindead simple as well as the way the mechanics go, I wanted something that would be a bit more stimulating for me. Thus, ninja. Yay. Didn't even have a full BIS set and even then was contributing more with only a few days worth of practice.
