Why go through so much effort to please a small minority of the player-base who will appreciate and indulge in the combat gameplay the Dev team provides on a daily? when they can put in extra more effort to destroy it all by simplifying it to appeal to another audience who will never appreciate it's combat no matter how much further they chisel away chunks of their existing product. Their loyal FFXIV fans anyways. Milking them out takes priority over gameplay improvement or standard. Look no further then the NFT sale SE recently done.

Then again these are not exactly the words of SE but the big chief himself. I can definitely buy that Yoshida cares. Then again... There have been a lot of unacceptable changes of which Yoshida said he gave the green light for them and takes full responsibility for them.

The story repeats itself. We had it with wow and now they do the same run with final.

Catering too casual’s only won’t win people over.

Butchering fun and interactive jobs only too cater to the super casual audience won’t win you costumers.

Being cheap about job design and only having 4 member in the job design team for 20 jobs and not even having a representative for every role is not the way.

You’re right, the tragedy is squenix have a cheat in this respect; WoW pruned every class in warlords of draenor and realised in bfa that this was not a good path to follow and are beginning to add or want to add old spells and abilities that had flavor because that’s what the community wants. They know what NOT to do if they know where to look.

Also the problem is the casual group of this game should not have any care in the world if the jobs are getting a higher skill ceiling because 95% of this game has no hard enrage anyway (expect ultimates but they are designed to be the most insane stuff In all aspects) you can’t skip with better gear. Every crayon eater won’t lose anything if the people that are willing to learn jobs still carry them. We do it already, every single day in a age we’re healer dps is 2 buttons and it is still too hard for a decent number of players anyway.

Kaiten did not affect casuals in any capacity when they already played freestyle samurai.

The same with the healer jobs like I said . People have 2 buttons for single target and are still inept to use them and rather spam the living hell out of medica 2 because the dungeon boss might pull out his 99% dmg ability.

This is the exact presentation I was thinking of this entire time. And all of it is true. Of course the silent will leave first, but at the rate they are going the feedback is also going to be silent.

    Agree on every front

I think it's fine that they want to reduce the difficulty of the jobs across the board, but wouldn't you want to leave a more involved option for each role? SAM got dumbed down so much it makes the job completely unsatisfying for me. As the melee selfish DPS it made sense to parallel black mage in its room for optimization and rotational difficulty. Freestyle samurai was actually decent damage too, I don't understand why they had to reduce the skill cap SO MUCH. I find myself completely lost in picking a class because I really enjoy melee, and really enjoy rotational difficulty. Reaper is among the easiest classes in the game, Ninja is hard but only in terms of APM not really difficult conceptually, Monk is way better now but still not hard to grasp at all, Dragoon I admittedly don't have at 90 but I've heard it's still easy. Why did they remove melee players' only option for an involved rotation? Im so sad

Just don't die and press buttons, is the barrier of entry to any of this. Making the jobs easier? doesn't magically offer improved gameplay nor job designs, but it definitely ruins the experience for players who would want the ability to push jobs to their limits not be robbed.

I much rather have a friendly barrier of entry to any Job, which it already is... and grant every Job complexity and nuances to give players the means to showcase skill-expression in the jobs they came to love. Though they seem to go the opposite direction.

I remember watching a video recently of " Xenosys ", where he hammered Square's Ego on not wanting to change their stances. Saving face on not looking bad cause some things that come from the FFXIV community are an improvement, feedback included. Be it how long it took them to fix Living Dead to whatever the heck they done to Samurai recently. To much pride to not admit they done anything wrong in their game from a design point of view. I can see why this opinion was made by Xeno.

So glad you came in to give us this little nugget. It's almost like you're complaining that we're complaining over a bad choice that they made. They asked for feedback, we provided it. For months. Some of us have picked other jobs to play or quit, but people complain because they care.

Also, we pay these people for their game. Monthly subscription, familiar with that? Our time is money too.

Personally I'm able to live without Kaiten, but the reason of removal being button bloat stirs me.

    Things you could consolidate:

Shoha -> Shoha II: Upgrade, like PLD Expiacion
Guren -> Senei: Upgrade, keep Guren range but make it cone for wider AOE and obviously potency upgrade
Ikishoten -> Ogi Namikiri: button combo

Also for the love of god, give me back Tenka Gokken's cone AOE, this is as awful as the Overpower change for me.

Agreed... And it's less about Kaiten being great, more Shinten spam being really bad. Just give us something, anything.
The reason they're not merging Ougi Namikiri with Ikishoten is because we're getting single target ougi next expansion :^)
