Ex-Healer main here just to give the SAM mains support.
I've been screwed for many years but I don't wanna see someone
else's main get killed too. Stop dumbing down this game or people will leave.
FIX SAM.

Hey guys.
There seems to be some discussion on our gap closer recently, whether or not it would be nice to have a free cost one before the fight or some other implementation (Also to free up our sprint button). As someone stated earlier, there was a post showing how many posts have been made since the changes and the immense amount of feedback Samurai have gotten, with Dragoon 2nd at roughly 1/4 the amount of posts, and Ninja/Bard 3rd at approximately 1/8. Ultimate is still brought up and talks of how their experience as a "pure dps" is disappointing compared to the Ninja or even Bards.
Also I need to add, my Scholar can hit ~26k with Broil. Very cool. April Fools is long gone now though. I'd like Square Enix, namely YoshiP, to give me my job back. 6.08, nothing less.
I would love to see the cost increased, actually, and in return, get rid of the cooldown.
If it had a higher cost, but no cooldown, it'd reward mindful kenki pooling in niche situations by letting players get extra GCDs in melee compared to what's currently possible.
A higher cost would also break its kenki-to-potency ratio parity with Shinten as an added bonus.
As for getting a free one at the start of the fight, how about we just start with full kenki? Instead of having to Ikishoten immediately we'd be rushing to burn kenki to make room for Ikishoten - sounds fun maybe?

It's eerie how closely you're following in WAR's footsteps.
Man, the ultimate raiders were surely not skilled enough to "adapt" to these extremely complex changes "made for the players" even over on JP forums huh (that's sarcasm, referring to Naoki Yoshida's Famitsu interview).Hey guys.

As for free cost Gyoten before pull, that seems not a bad idea on the surface, till we realize our damage starts ticking from that un-buffed OGCD instead of the first GCD similar to ShB monk, and the Gyoten animation slightly delaying the first GCD, so not a fan of that suggestion. Not to mention it still does not fix the "job feel" issue that removing Kaiten brought with it, or the anti-synergy with 1/3rd of the damage buff types (and the second highest damage buff type by count) in the game.
Wait you are not a fan of Broil hitting for the same value as the "big finisher" with a melee cast time? That's shocking. I cannot imagine the greatest dev team known to mankind did not think of that (sarcasm again).
Thanks for your contribution, soldier. I hope that eventually, your concerns over healers will stop falling on deaf ears too.

That is what we have to do here. In the last month alone I know at least a few hundred new posters have registered for the forums to voice their displeasure. That might not seem like much but in the context of how busy these forums normally are that's a marked increase, and the vast majority of them have been posting to voice their displeasure with the 6.1 changes. Not just for SAM either, but for other jobs as well. We have to use this opportunity to make it clear to the dev team that this trend towards simplification isn't a good thing. Not just for DPS, but for tanks and healers too. Maybe healers and tanks will never go back to HW or SB levels of complexity. I don't think any healers or tanks would begrudge SE that much. But surely more can be done than the bog simple rotations they have now. Tanking and healing needs to be engaging outside of high-end content. Jobs need to be engaging in all sorts of content, not just the most difficult. Save the difficult stuff for skill expression, sure, but even easy stuff needs to be fun from a job gameplay perspective.
Fully agree with the notion that this isn't just a DPS issue. Jobs absolutely need to be more engaging regardless of what type of content you're doing. That is what we have to do here. I will be the first to admit, however, that I'm not familiar or qualified enough to comment about healers but I get the general idea of healer mains wanting more things to do than one button with the occasional healing of raidwides and tankbusters.
Always reassuring to see they're just as if not more upset over these changes as we are over here.
Tank main (former melee dps main) just wanna show some support and hope you guys get the changes the job needs. The way they changed samurai is not healthy for the job or the future of job balance in this game. Samurai deserves better and I hope change happens.
