Well to be fair we did, yoshi p told us to go play ultimate, gotta love being a healer
YEEESSSSS!
Yeah, this hasn't been a thing since either late Heavensward or Stormblood, can't quite remember.
In Stormblood the only block/parry that wasn't omnidirectional was Raw Intuition because it specifically made every attack you took from the back or flank a critical hit.
Keeping enemies bunched up in front of you is however still just good tanking practice, even if it has no effect on mitigation anymore.
Don't think I've seen any WAR changes are mentioned for 6.2 so far. Kinda doubt they'd roll this back since making everything the same seem to be the design goal for tanks and healers, but one can hope...
In that case can we make all tanks the same by giving them an actual tanking tool, the cone AoE on opener. Cone-->circle AoE's is just proper tanking; if they wanted homogenization this would have been the only thing to make sense.
Either that or my suggestion to just give us BOTH AoE openers, two separate actions. The casual tanks can leave the cone off their hotbars, while those of us who understand proper tanking and actually WANT to take the time to position mobs properly for the rest of our team, we can leave the circle off our hotbar. Simple easy painless fix and everybody wins. Why not?
They never even bothered explaining the nerf, so we can really only guess as to their reasons, or go off of what those in favour claim they like about it, which really only makes it all the more frustrating. I still absolutely loathe this change every time I tank a dungeon, or anything that requires AoE, really. In that case can we make all tanks the same by giving them an actual tanking tool, the cone AoE on opener. Maybe I'll just switch to BLM, at least that seems fairly safe from gratuitous changes. If only I hadn't gotten used to tank queues...
Glad to know I’m not the only one that thought this was a dumb change. I felt the cone had a further range but was like maybe it’s just in my head. See those 3 mobs kinda spaced apart bam hit all 3 keep on running. Now I feel like I have to wait for them to aggrieved and get close before I overpower. I liked it the way it was before.
