It was limited, limited to only the people with the unbelievable brain capacity to aim a cone at a group of enemies... this is the part where I would normally laugh, but aparently that is actually something that needs "correcting" nowadays.
Started levelling BLM and all I can say that I now hate this change even more. The amount of tanks that somehow manage to spead packs so that BLM AoE doesn't hit everything is just TOO DAMN HIGH.
While playing WAR I also still assume Overpower has some actual range, has lead to some...interesting situations, to say the least.
Don't worry, this is just the new era. Tanks get radial AoEs and are no longer encouraged to keep enemies in front of them, instead spreading them by standing right at their center, as a soft nerf to Caster AoE and Shadowbite. You were clearly doing too well in dungeons before.Started levelling BLM and all I can say that I now hate this change even more. crippling a useful skill to such a state is the new era? Time to leave the game behind thensorry but I'm too used to the cone overpower, that I'm mostly missing most of the enemies because of the crappy short circle. Aside from the animation looking ugly awkward as hell...
for me, it's clearly an unneeded nerf that the WAR clearly doesn't need
Wow, after all this time, this is the first explanation I've read and thought "okay, well, now that is something"Don't worry, this is just the new era. I know you're joking, bc of course, Not that it's any good, but I'm being perfectly honest. If they came out and said anything along these lines, I believe their last post mentioned something about explaining their intents behind job changes going forward? If they did address the removal of cone, and said something to the effect of "nerfing ranged AoE in dungeons" I would actually feel 10,000% better about it. Especially in this lead-up to savage dungeons.
I would still hate the new Overpower and despite having my cone taken away, resulting in doing the absolute bare minimum savage dungeons, instead of hanging out and helping people throughout the whole patch like I was planning. But for cryin' out loud at least there'd be a somewhat digestible reason for it all.
But cutting it to cater to people who are still going to pick up the job for 20min, play badly, get discouraged and go back to never touching it again? Just feels like a kick in the nuts

Shadowbringer, Edge and flood of shadow now radial aoes. Please look forward to it.Don't worry, this is just the new era. SAM main here. I see you guys have been hit by the same cancer of unnecessarily simplifying things and homogenizing similar abilities. AoE in this case. I feel your pain, our finisher got turned into this pitiful circle with crappy damage and a horrible nonsensical animation.
Anyhow, it's sad. One would think that if cones had to go extinct except for a few classes, they'd stay on tank. You know, the people who want monsters looking at them from the front and not AROUND them so they can parry and block and all that good stuff. What has the class design team been doing lately?
