    PLD changes; thoughts?

    Morning fellow Holy Knights!

    How’s everyone doing this week?

    Regarding its changes I must confess I feel pretty “grey” about it as it’s neither too enthusiastic yet not dissatisfied either.

    The removal of our DoTs might’ve probably given us more advantage for DMG boost or slightly hindering.

    What are your thoughts however?

    PS: Still loving PLD as always <3

    no DoTs is fine as long as there's some sort of meaningful skill interaction to replace it with.......

    However removing DoTs from the blade spells at least let's the class feel better. Like it's one of the meatiest looking attacks in the game yet it gives staggered damage rather than BIG SWORD numbers? Yeah that DoT can go.

    I'm glad they're making PLD better defensively more then anything, can't say much about the rotation changes yet but I'm hoping they're fine.

    Too soon to give an honest opinion. All they did was mention a few changes, they did not go into detail about how the job will play. They're not going to just remove DoTs and call it a day.

    Not exactly hard to guess what it will be. DoTs will be gone, rotation will be shortened to 45 seconds of filler 1-2-3 and 15 seconds burst so it fits the 2 minute meta. Of course potency adjustments to buff the burst phase for said meta, maybe even a new big shiny button that you press on cooldown every 2 minutes to deal extra burst.


    Gameplay-wise it will play like warrior, for dark knight it doesn't have enough oGCDs to spam... neither of which I'd consider a win.

    Gauge generation?
    Will it be changed to not punish PLD when it can't auto attack.

    What's the point of Goring blade now?
    If it has no dots, we'll just spam the highest potency combo.

    What about the use of Divine Veil and Passage of Arms?

    What about Hallowed Ground, the worst invuln, due to its rigidity, as of today?

    There's way too much question and as long as we don't have the tooltip, we can't make a correct judgement.

    Still a lot of unknowns until the patch drops so idk. Is Goring Blade going to get a damage up effect like Storm's Eye now or are they gonna try something else with it since they're not outright removing it?

    Divine Might I'm guessing will stack and you'll gain it from doing Royal Authority/Goring Blade, which means you'll end up saving them for burst windows.

    Also the additional new (or old I guess) defensive will be nice, I bet they'll put a 10% on it as well a la Camouflage.

    The changes sound... fine I guess? The part that appeals to me is being able to insert ranged spells into the rotation at arbitrary points to avoid downtime, though I guess that hardly matters if melee downtime isn't a thing in boss design anymore. Moving sheltron to being a damage reduction rather than block is also clearly necessary and good. Not thrilled about the class being yet another standard builder/spender for the exact same burst phase as everyone else but it's retaining the ranged spellcasting, which is the important part IMO.

    If I ever return to raiding it'll probably be as PLD.

    I thought they said they were doing gameplay of the PLD lol, oh well...

    I think In general Goring blade is going to give you a 10% general damage buff on a 30 seconds that can stack up to 60 like warriors, likely FOF removed or reworked into goring blade.

    Hopefully they're making DV/POA more useable and less clunky Imo, now we know they're adjusting the defensive's I also hope they buff cover somehow making it actually a good ability, With bulwark being added in it's likely going to be your "block ability" as I think shelltron/holyshelltron are just going to become normal mitigation abilities from what we've heard.

    Really confused on the finishing combo gives you a Holy spirit charge thing? I think it's going to be similar to how WAR can store up charges of fellcleave, instead of being tied to gauge it will be tied to doing your rotation.
