By far, this post is the best explanation summarizing the core issues MCH is dealing with.Yeah, I never planned on posting on the forums but once again we've been let down.
I want to premise this with positives in that I love playing the job, I enjoy consistency being rewarded and I prefer strict rotation jobs myself. I like having agency over my performance and MCH does a good job of that. This concept doesn't have to change. However, there are issues. Lots of them. Some of this is born of passion for the job (and the role), but some of it is also core design problems that the game suffers from.

Thank you. I just hope one day the devs decide to actually pay attention to our years of complaints.
Thank you for all of your feedback on this. Some really great stuff in here.
Hopefully the devs see this and take our concerns into consideration so that we can all enjoy MCH at it's best potential.

After seeing the SAM/NIN changes, I can't help but feel that MCH would probably end up getting similar treatment.

Too many SAM threads with the same complaints. Bumping this to keep it alive

Honestly, to me, it feels like Sam/Nin got the treatment mch got in ShB with our readjustment but instead of their entire job redone or lost, they lost 1 or 2 important abilities. As someone who's played since the end of ARR, it seems like MCH got the first big rework along with Sch, then SMN, Ast, Mnk got the next and now Sam/Nin are.
As a (former) MCH-main, I waited a while after the 6.1 patch dropped to see how things shook out. I can confidently say that they didn't shake out well for me. The buff was insufficient and only served to underline the fact that SQEX doesn't want us to do too much damage. As a result of, or perhaps in spite of, this pf is starting to blacklist MCH out of farm parties (at least on Crystal). At this point, I've come to the sad decision that I'm going to shelve MCH for now and for the 2nd time in this expansion, switch mains yet again.

6.1 buffs was yet another slap in the face for MCH. SE seems to be afraid to give MCH too much. Wildfire used to be a key ability to MCH and so far has been very low for our overall DPS in a fight for the past two expansion. Honestly the whole physical range role needs to change before we probably see anything worthwhile happen to the jobs.
MCH already has to deal with the auto crit stuff with reassemble. There also isn’t much in the way of button bloat to prune really. Changing wildfire to a more conventional 2 minute CD would go a long way along with some changes to queen. Fixing the AOE would be nice too. Flamethrower is pretty useless. If it generated 50-100 heat or something, that would be nice.

I still stand by the fact that people that ban MCH from PFs are clueless. MCH isn't completely unviable. A good MCH will still out-dps a bad...anything else. I can somewhat understand banning it for optimisation and definitely speeds for obvious reasons, but there is no use in removing it for normal clears/clear attempts/practice. People that do this are the same people that lock double-melee in PF because they think it will be objectively better without considering player skill/gear. If you like playing MCH, you still have every right to do so. It's just in a bad place, as has been discussed across multiple threads that are still sadly being ignored. As a (former) MCH-main, I waited a while after the 6.1 patch dropped to see how things shook out.
