Instanced housing is worth considering for FFXIV

It's not.

If they were trying to use it as a stable sub revenue stream, they'd set it up so 90% of players could have a houses.

If they were trying to use it as a stable sub revenue stream, demolition would be after 28 days instead of 45 days.

If they were trying to use it as a stable sub revenue stream, demolition would never be suspended.

As for island sanctuary, unless you're a dev masquerading as a player, no one knows what it is exactly. But it's been compared to Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. For which both games, a customizable living space is a very prominent part of. So, it's not so unlikely it could serve as a form of housing. Whether it will or not is anyone's guess, though, because again, the mechanics/gameplay of it haven't really been revealed at all - save to very vaguely compare it to other games..

Inspired by those games, not like those games. People keep reading too much into what's been said about Island Sanctuary because they'd like to think it's going to be a housing replacement. It's not, it's going to be its own form of content. It's something that YoshiP has said many times but players do not want to listen.
