Why are the Arkasodara Quests and Ameliance Custom Delivery delayed to 6.15?

Tribal quests and Custom Deliveries have never been staggered content before. It is very easy to be cynical about this and that the content is presumably already in a finished state if not very close, and that this is being used to increase retention inbetween 6.1 and 6.2.

I understand that content staggering is always going to exist in this game, but why is it that this time around content that has come out on patch day consistently is not?

I'd guess its because 6.1 is actually adding a lot more content than usual when its usually just an alliance raid and an extreme trial but even then custom deliveries and tribal quests are daily activities that don't take much from your day so its still kinda weird. I wish they would explain these things instead of leaving people to guess.

    yeah it is kinda odd
I thought they said new pvp would be in 6.15 aswell but patch notes dont say that at all unlike custom deliveries and beast tribes

Call me a cynic but I suspect it's to artificially stretch out the patch. Not to mention, they also want to make PvP highlighted because, well, let's face it. They really need a win with yet another PvP overhaul. Admittedly, it does look fun.

I hope they're prepared for another failure then. They've tried the whole "New pvp mode" thing before and....outside of Moogle tomes when is the last time Rival Wings got any attention?

I'm sure it'll be good for however long it takes to get the rewards and then goes right back to being forgotten, which if ShB is anything to base it off of, won't be long if they're only going to add one armor set and no weapons.

It's good because I would be overwhelmed with choices otherwise. Feeling pressured to finish the tribal quests first before reset when I want to do the other new content isn't a choice that needs to be there when it can be staggered.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

I think this is actually why. I don't remember the exact phrase in the live letter but they said they were separating the side quests to let people focus on the MSQ and alliance raid and other new items coming right with 6.1 rather than getting overwhelmed on what to do getting them all at once. I'm actually not against this for exactly the reason you said. I'll be interested to see how it works out.

That's what they say and yet even those of us who can only play for a few hours - if that - each day never seem to struggle to be 'overwhelmed' with content in a game that loves to stretch it as thinly as possible with increasing frequency.

I daresay the game might have done well not to try and enter a 'new era' when it clearly wasn't properly prepared to do as much. Let's not forget that we're now set to get three patches per year rather than four because there's now a four month gap between each release. To disguise that gap, I don't doubt that the decision to spread things out more than usual was made.

Until they give me a solid reason to not give them the benefit of the doubt on what they say, then I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. You're obviously at the point where you can't. That's fine. I get it. I'm the same way with Ubisoft and the Assassin's Creed series. But I'm not at that point yet with SE so I'll still give them that benefit. I'm also not bothered by longer time between patches. I used to play WoW and we waited a lot longer for new content.

To be fair the change in frequency of major patches isn't really a new change, rather just them verbalizing a trend that anyone could have looked at. Time between major patches has seen a slow but steady increase since HW. Time between major patches in HW was a mix 15/16 weeks, SB was 16/17 weeks, and ShB 16/17/18 weeks (except for 5.3). So 6.1 taking 18 weeks from launch isn't really a surprise to me. I'd buckle in for 18-20 week patch cycles for the rest of EW.
