If you gear poorly, people will assume you play poorly or doesn't care. That is not the attitude people looking for at pickups. THis is also why there are very little pickup parties in NA community compare to JP community where they have at least 10 recruits going on at their prime.
I don't know how you figure there are so few NA pickup groups. In ulduh all you see is shouting for pickup groups. And I am in a PUG nearly everytime I play despite being in a decent LS... And for the garuda PUG I mentioned - first it was commented I was wearing the blm gimped AF so I changed it to single meld gear. that wasn't good enough either, and before I had time to switch to the correct thm weapon of choice for the fight(I have all the element brands with a meld.) That was the straw that broke the camels back and I was booted. The thing was a day or two before I had helped that very same guy on a unrelated quest.

Yes I helped him for no benefit of my own, a perfect stranger other than seeing him around, and then he boots me(ironic.) This community is almost unbearable.. I am sticking around for 2.0 definitely but at the rate this community is headed I doubt I will be here in half a year.. I am here to have fun, help others, and HAVE FUN. and it seems VERY few share those views..
