    Indicator to tell FATE's scaling power

    When you farm fates, depending on how many people participate, the FATE in the area will scale up to match. If you solo, normal FATE will take 12 monsters to complete and spawn up to four monsters, and boss FATE should take around 2-3 minutes to beat. If there are two or more people clearing a FATE, the next FATE will start scale up in maximum spawn number, how many to kill to complete the FATE, and monster's health.


    So, what is the problem? While monster-killing and object-collecting FATE is easy to tell if they are worth or solo or not by looking at their spawn number, defending and boss FATE doesn't give you that luxury until you engage them. Boss FATE gives you no information about their HP unless you use a plugin to see, so chance it will take 10+ minutes to kill a boss solo cuz it is scaled for three people without you knowing it.



    I think there should be an indicator to tell players which power-scaling level a FATE is currently at. One star is the starting level that is suitable for solo. Two-star is scaled for 2 people, which is still solo-able to certain extent. 3-star for 4 people, telling you to steer away from it, and so on.

    I think they should scale based on players participating, instead of how many players participated last time. Like, come on, if your going to copy someone elses work, at least don't make it wilfully inferior just to be different.

    But it has been years, so we can surmise that it's "working as intended". Ugh...

    If they can do it on the boss FATEs at the very least, that would be incredibly helpful.

    They've always done this. If there are a lot of people doing FATEs in the zone, the FATES will scale up in difficulty. It takes them a bit to scale back down when things die down and it's down to just one or two people in the zones.

    It's been this way since ARR. It's easily verifiable if you do FATEs near the beginning of an expansion when there's tons of players farming them and watch how long it takes to kill a boss, usually 1-2mins with 20-30 people.
    Then you come back during dead hours or later in the expansion when no one's fate farming anymore, despite being solo, it still takes 2-3mins to kill the same boss, despite having 30x less firepower.

    Or in gathering fates, near the beginning of an expansion, you can turn in the 7 or so items you need for gold and barely dent 10% of the bar needed to complete the FATE, whereas during dead hours, turning in those same 7 items would complete 30-50% of the bar.

    There is no 'official' source for it as its common knowledge at this point that has been confirmed with minor testing plenty of times. They even had to change the code for FATEs in Bozja due to the FATE scaling system code in the backend causing some skirmishes to be nigh uncompleteable due to insane HP scaling with Dyunbu.

    Yeah, when I was doing a lot of FATES, there was nothing more frustrating then porting into a new zone, tagging a mob, and realizing I'd have to kill 32 more to finish the FATE on my own. I think the ship has probably sailed on them scaling to the number of people CURRENTLY doing the FATE, but a notice of how difficult it will be would certainly help.

    I don't think all fates scale. Some go really quick when people join after all.
