Is there a punishment for afking in dungeons?

So I was in a dungeon, died to a mechanic once (admittedly I wasn't paying attention that much) and made a joke saying it's ok im a tank I don't need to move. I basically get flamed by 2 people spamming cringe and I left for probably 2 min to take my dog out and chill. I come back to find I was kicked from the party. Just worried I might get some form of suspension now as I probably shouldn't have left but was just fed up with people like them on other games.

Beyond the other players kicking you? Extremely unlikely.

They'd have had to also report you to a GM; and the GM would need to want to do something about it.
Which they basically won't, unless you said a naughty word in the chat log.

If you repeat a problematic behavior such as AFKing you may get a sanction.
If it's an emergency from time to time, nothing will happen.

Remember it's a team game, most people queue in dungeon expecting a maximum of 20 minutes in and out.
While the flaming is not acceptable, griefing by afk/not moving is not acceptable either.

Never forget you are playing with real people that may not have your time.
There are players who come back from stressfull work and simply wants a simple good time, as much as you.

You should be fine. Even if they reported you, GMs would only act on it if they deem your action has seriously impacted other players' game experience or violated the ToS, or so I've heard.

That being said, don't do it again.

Nah, if you really afk (10min) you are removed from the duty by the game, if you afk because of "emergency" the game kicks you (after 10min) or the party does, losing that progress is your "penalty" if you afk for less well tough for your party, its not "nice" to do it but no one can get you for that.

In order to get any sort of penalty for that, you would need to do this over and over while also getting salty players who repeat you each time ... most just kick you get a replacement and move on however.

Since almost all dungeons scale wonky and are faceroll, there's a good chance you did not need the 4th player anyway so most wont even wait and just continue further till your back or they decide to kick you for afk. Unless your in a party that would rather complain for 10min then clear the next section of the dungeon 2 min slower then normal.

Yeah I tend not to type as much, or at all. I was just wondering since it seams like the GMs are actual people unlike other MMOs where it's all automated and there's no leeway really. Regardless, won't to it again. But are reports generally useless then in case of other players bming? I've had a few and it seems like the report system is fairly tedious to go through as well.

99% of ALL GM interactions is "please blacklist the person" after playing for roughly 9 years i've interacted once with a GM ... and that one was because someone reported me for a twitter shitpost on someone who took everything in our FC chest sat himself on the yard and linked the items and yes we all know "he had the rights", which is fine but to have the audacity to go on the lawn is just pushing things a bit to far imho.

Went a bit on a sidenote here but remember if you have any social media account that can be linked to your in game, SE can and will sack you for it if someone shows them were you hurt their feelings.

ON XI you had a GM basically check up with you on almost every single ticket and take action on most things straight away, on XIV its more of a "we gather information" thing. This is at least my experience, not like this stuff is widely discussed by SE.

There have been people that were temp banned for harassment GM reports that from the sound of it were likely people reporting them for AFK leeching MSQ roulette since that reason would be the closest out of the options for ticket submission. The cause of the GM reports in the case of the MSQ roulette is most likely due to other people in the duty trying to rush everything that cutscenes probably caused vote kick attempts to time out.

If you weren't rude to them, then you wouldn't need to worry about a suspension.

If you go AFK, the game kicks you after 10 minutes. If you go AFK for shorter than that, the party can kick you because AFK is one of the available kick reasons.
