I honestly appreciate posts like this because it brings awareness to other people. Should be common sense but people get curious, it's in our nature lol *shrug*

SE should increase security for service accounts, I doubt One-Time Passwords are strong enough to protect them.


Ideally I would like a fingerprint reader to authorize the player every time he/she logs into the game instead of typing username/password + OTP but that would require developing an app for smartphones that took advantage of that technology, it would probably eliminate phishing as a side benefit.


At the very least SE could add a "panic button" in-game to lockdown the account in case the player determines the credentials have been compromised.

Almost fell for this a few minutes ago, but something felt off with the link. Went through and put on 2FA and made sure passwords and such were updated. Glad I made sure to check the legit forums first before I got tapped. o7

The easiest, most convenient form of security, I hope Square Enix becomes aware there is such a solution to all the cyber-crime going on around this game.

And the cycle most likely continued - the scammer probably used your account to try and scam others.
