Hello all!(Please read update in the next post on this thread!) I found an issue with using the method I recommended!
I am so excited to share with everyone my fix for the incredibly common complaint (auto positioning camera with controller a using legacy control settings)
I'll try my best to explain the complaint I have seen others have, (myself included) I have seen on Forums, Youtube & Google.
The What:
FFXIV players both on PC & Playstation have the same camera/movement options when using a controller.
Character settings -> Gamepad settings -> Camera:
1) Standard mode (Character based) basically the camera is always facing the rear of the character no matter what. (unless locked on to a target)
2) Legacy mode (Camera based) allows you to move your character a 360 deg. rotation using just the left analog stick.
The Complaint:
Motion sickness issue with the camera turning as you move. (this kind of camera function reminds me of FFX and FFX-2 when you're a big open area.. normally when you're in a small dungeon the camera will be locked and wont rotate as you move your character left and right.
A lot of console players may be used to this style as its been around a very long time but a PC user trying out the controller for a first time will notice it right away.
!! THE FIX (kinda) !!
*For Windows users only, regardless of Steam / Non-Steam*
I held down the Right Mouse Button on my mouse while moving with the controller and it caused the camera to stay still while I rotated my character with the left stick! I couldnt really believe it so I taped the mouse button down and began to play and it felt so much better (in legacy mode only)
So I searched online for a Windows option to lock your Left / Right Mouse Button and I found "Click-Lock" which is basically a setting used to help you highlight long documents without having to hold the mouse clicked down the whole time.
If you check your mouse settings in your control panel, you'll see somewhere "Additional mouse settings", typically where you change your cursor speed and what-not.
There is a setting called Click-Lock.. when you enable it you can also edit the delay period at which point it will lock either your LMB or RMB when you press it. (i put it on short so its easier.)
Once this is enabled you go in game 100% normally with your controller & legacy camera setting on, all you have to do is click on the screen with LMB or RMB (only LMB held for me for some reason) and once I felt Click-Lock engage.. I used my controller and its WAY better! No more motion sickness
Please let me know if this worked for anyone else or it helped them enjoy using their controllers again!
P.S.
I just started playing again after a free trial and I only have enough for 1 month of subscription if this helped you and you are able to help me keep playing I will take donations! XD
Thanks for reading! Spread the word!
