If a single person subs for only four months in an entire expansion cycle, that's two full Once-and-Done games in a two year period. Not quite an insubstantial or game killing amount of money.
It may not be a substantial amount or game killing amount of money. But if every player did quit for 3 months and quoted that statement, Yoshi P would have lost his job immediately and that statement would be redacted. You do not mess with corporate profits or anger share holders.

Those of us who took our time had weeks worth of MSQ. I still haven't completed all the role quests, either.

2. I'm impressed that you know that Yoshida intended to speak out against grindy progression systems when he was replying to a player who specifically stated that he was having trouble finding the motivation to even play anymore because of the lack of content. He literally replied with this:

There was no mention of progression systems or treadmill grinds in this context. He was literally talking about content when he said this. His advice was simply to take it slower.
1. If Yoshi P told the players to unsub from the game, he would have been fired. No question about that, see my above statement.
2. Do you really consider that a good answer? When some one says how do I stay motivated to play your game when there is nothing to do, you answer, go do something else and shrug it off.
