    What exactly do you want me to say? You press the same button over and over again with two hard casts on ifrit and the swiftcast puddle on garuda. Unless you don't have 15s raid buffs to fit slipstream under in which case you can hardcast that one too if you're feeling daring. The primals amount to little more than a reskin of one another, offering at best the illusion of choice in an otherwise homogenous, pathetic parody of a dps. They build nothing, leading only to the wet fart of the demis. The job is fundamentally flawed, more primals will not address this beyond a minor slowing of how rapidly the primal summoning animations (all they have going for them) get old.

    As someone who mained Summoner in all but ShB (I spent most of it away from the game) I actually enjoy the new version of Summoner. While I did enjoy the dot mage I can admit that thematically it didn't feel like summoner and this does. While it is a very simplistic job I find it oddly satisfying to play. If I'm feeling like doing something with more buttons I'll play something else, I'm looking forward to leveling monk and ninja, but summoner as is just feels like a summoner. I'm curious to see what the future holds for the class.

    I think it should be quite clear that my post was expressing extreme dissatisfaction with current summoner, and highlights several key flaws with the job direction. I have listed some potential changes to improve the current summoner in the “summoner changes that should happen onto 7.0” thread that you have also been posting in, but due to the depth of the problems my preferred course of action would be a complete rework ideally heading back in the ffxiv summoner direction rather than the attempted implementation of something that just doesn’t work in this combat system.

    They could give the carby an insta-cast spell or something, to mirror what Eos does with Embrace. Glorified perma dot? Yes it is, but at least it will make the pet marginally engaged with the combat.

    If not that, just... Remove R.A. from the carby (like they did with S.L.) and make the Summon Carbuncle an optional, cosmetic spell. Those who like the pet idling by them the entire time wouldn't be affected... Those bothered by the carbuncle not doing anything would also be pleased.

    I still have the action that tells my carbuncle to stand in a certain area on my controller hot-bar just to fill up some otherwise empty spaces, although since Searing Light is now casted from you instead of from the carbuncle, I’m not really sure when there would ever be a point to controlling the placement of the carbuncle since the buddy will always be near you when you ask it to cast a shield on you. It’s still fun to do in the open world sometimes since the carbuncle is still very cute, but the pet actions (not referring to the shield move) don’t really seem to have a point during combat anymore.

    Honestly, make carbuncle a thing you can summon just to have the pet for old times sake (functionally useless) and make a new job that actually is pet based and not summon based.

    A ranger with a pet would be fun!

    The only niche use Carbuncle even provides is to be placed in a specific spot for a targeted LB3 such with DSR and meteors. I remember the interview just weeks or a month before EW launch they said they were removing the dots for more pet abilities. With what we got on release and then the change to Searing Light shows how much they enjoy pets. Even with people asking for BST as a new job, I doubt it will be anything what people are hoping for in a pet job.
