    They sure do something, and that something is so "cool" that apparently SE decided to give all summons the exact same thing. Cant wait for SMN lvl 100 when you'll summon Shiva/Ramuh/whatever and they all do a different colored attack that does the exact same damage as the three we currently have. SO MUCH FUN!!!!1one

    they do their ult attack and then let you do different move properties, insta with followup, slow cast with gap closer, or slipstream

    each summon candy lets you do something different

    Nope. It forces you to use the only two spells/abilities of the SMN's kit they provide to you, and you can't do anything outside your chosen little colored box that could've been more efficient in a given situation without messing your rotation or because you've already spent it.

    For instance, in most fights you see yourself just standing there and could really use those nice casted red-colored ruins for some time but if you've already used Ifrit in one of these situations before you're stucked with insta-casts without requiring them. Shows how much control we have now over our own basic spells as SMN.

    Honestly the best rework imo is keep the current summon style but rather instead of the two buttons that we have now, revert it to Egi Assualt 1/2 and each on does a predetermined attack set, much like how automaton and Esteem works, but you are the one to give the command. It would keep the summon fighting alongside you and SMN could then revolve around either buffing their summon or attacking alongside them. It's also not a limitation of the code since bahamut and phoenix literally do the same thing, stay on the field the entire time and you command them when to do their big attacks.

    However I'm willing to see where they take this since this is just the foundation of what's to come, despite being very bare bones at the start.

    Yep, their original unique move goes 1 - 1 - 1 - 1. All at different speeds.

    Astral Flow is like a last ditch effort of giving them the smallest semblance of uniqueness. But I doubt SE will go too crazy on those. Remember when Bahamut and Phoenix were actually different? No can do. Now you will spam your 1 key on them, and you will like it.

    I don't see them making the other summons more persistent, especially the level 90 versions. They could give some more actions to Carbuncle.

    I do not understand why it is necessary to have a base pet (carbuncle). I am in favor of getting rid of it. With it gone, you dont need to waste a gcd to re-summon it after you are resurrected. I also dont like the idea of having carbuncle deal some passive damage. I'd rather all the damages come from the caster - whereby we get higher pot spells as you dont need to share with the carbuncle..

    I don't know why the dot and pet dps job needs dots or pets - or even an involved dps rotation either. Perhaps they could also get rid of aetherflow, it's not like it does anything important either.
