    Longer Range for Bows?

    I have noticed something during my time of playing Archers in Final Fantasy XIV after playing ranged classes in other MMO's: The archer's range is short compared to others. I have to get up real close to an enemy just to fire off a shot in this game, while in other MMO's, I can get further away to shoot an enemy, even with a bow.

    Could the range be extended? Or is there a reason it needs to be short?

    I forgot about that! Also remove the too far below and too far above (to a certain extent!). >.<

    I hate to be the one to bring immersion into this, but I do have to say shooting from over 50 feet is really hard to do accurately, let alone under pressure and the heat of battle. I would like to see range of accurate shots being a stat. The higher the level, the better you are at shooting at a higher range. This would mean a higher range overall, but if you are shooting from too far at low level, you'll be missing often.

    The whole shooting below or above thing... it's too susceptible to exploits.

    Final Fantasy XIV is probably the only MMO I've played that has the above and below requirements, and in the others I've played (WoW, Rift, and Aion), it wasn't exploited.

    Just to be clear, is kiting a mob around a rock or a tree an exploit as well? Or is using the environment to your advantage just out of the question.

    I think they did mention that the too far above/below thing is going bye bye in 2.0. I'd look it up, but I'm a lazy bum.

    As a recent convert to the archery way, I'm all for this. Longer range would be nice. The "target too far above" I can maybe see. Realistically it'd be harder to shoot with accuracy at something too high.

    Target is too far below? That's what archers do. C'mon SE.

    I could just see raising it up a little because it happens when enemies are barely above me. (When you're in La Noscea, it's a major pain in the butt. >.<)
