Sounds like you should just go play something else. Ya'll complain about content all the time, but have no idea just how good this game has it with always getting content on a consistent schedule. It may not cater to what YOU want, but content is content and pretty much none of the MMO's out there release consistent content updates every 3-4 months. Hell, even WoW goes for over a year before any real updates occur.

Would I like more focused content on the things I prefer like end game raiding? Sure, but at the same time I've played MMO's that core focused on that content and relegated the rest of the game to numbness and eventually turned end game into a horrible experience (I'm looking at you mythic+ and your stupid key system.)

Ask Wildstar how well it went for them when they catered to the specific population that was high end raiders.

They quickly found out that that population is actually a niche.

Ya I loved wildstar, but I knew immediately it was a game that wouldn't survive.

Except nobody is asking for FFXIV to be "hardcore" focused. This is a constant strawman people love to bring up whenever someone remotely suggests the game is simply too easy. There's such a thing as a middle ground between easier content and baby's first MMO. FFXIV falls into the latter category where the game is almost impossible to fail until level 70. And even then, remains incredibly easy. Healers asking for more engaging gameplay, be it in the form of additional DPS abilities or higher outgoing damage, aren't asking for the game to become hardcore. They want something to do besides spam one button.

6.2 is supposed to bring Criterion dungeons. I’ll be interested to see how these challenge dungeons work. It’s supposed to scale 1-4 players. They didn’t give any details in the live letter, but maybe this will be a fun challenge for people.

Seriously we need an official copy paste for people who keep thinking this is what people are asking for. It’s not. You are confused.

I love when my point is misconstrued by people I wasn't even talking to. That reply was in response to the post above it, y'all, chill. I know no one is asking for that.

I agree that this game could use help, especially in the early game. The MSQ is monotous (spell check) early and the job design is poor for almost every job when it's not at max level.

    Except for the OP:

He's decided that we all want untelegraphed and unpredictable mechanics. You can move goalposts around and claim that this is casual play, but many casual players feel otherwise. That's what this entire thread is about.

How could he not be confused when the OP literally said that we should make the mechanics in normal content untelegraphed and unpredictable? On top of that we have 10 pages of players defending that position while simultaneously claiming that they're not trying to make the game more hardcore. And you wonder why we're confused.

Easy. It’s not binary. This is not ultimate or Dora the explorer levels. People need to stop thinking black and white and admit difficulty is a gradient. That gradient right now is skewed pretty far to the Dora levels. We need it to skew back to somewhere in the lower middle to full on middle, and leave extreme, savage and ultimate for the high end.

If some mechanics are untelegraphed and some bosses are more unpredictable that doesn’t mean they won’t have other visual cues or that you will have milliseconds to respond before being one shot. It just means that you won’t have 30 seconds to walk out of a radioactive orange warning sign that will do a whopping 10% damage to your health if that.

Problem is sadly in the jobs themselves too, there's a problem when you can place most skills the same way for all your hotbars and play mostly ok because the jobs are so unified.

I mean, yoship literally said "if you want more engaging content, just do ultimate" which just means the rest is not made to be engaging. Even savage, outside of the 4th floor, during week 1 with an okayish static geared with 580crafted, we could kill the first 2 fights with 8 deaths and the third fight with 5 (including lb heal and summoner rezzes), even during eden it was around 3 for the first 2 floors. The game bring so many people just for the story and they just dont want to learn the game so everything is made for them to be able to do it.
