At the end of the day I really wouldn't care if they changed it, but I feel now more than ever that they need to focus on things the game desperately needs and not hollow gestures of solidarity. But I do understand the appeal currently. The letter has taken on another meaning lately. I'm surprised something hasn't been said by now officially.

If this is ACTUALLY the case and you have proof of such, report them. You don't need to take away a title from the entire populace of the game for a ridiculously small portion of griefers.

Anyway, I'm not sure this "Z" title is worth changing at this point, for three main reasons:

1) I don't think the "pro Putin" coded usage of the symbol has attained enough universal recognition, at least not to the point that I'd see somebody in FFXIV with a "Z" title and think that they're trying to promote the invasion of Ukraine.

2) It remains to be seen if the usage of "Z" for this purpose will remain a lasting thing.

3) Honestly, I'm not sure if I've EVER seen another FFXIV player using the "Z" title. Maybe once a long time ago??

they probably will never remove the Z title, in the japanese client it displays as "the Zeta" so the best they'd probably do is make it the same as JP if they're ever (unlikely) going to change it and it's fine as it is imo as it has no relation to anything/what so ever irl

The letter Z isn't even part of the Russian alphabet, so what the op is asking for is to remove a squiggly line that looks a bit like a letter from a completely different language. If someone is so far past the "sticks and stones" principle and is actively calling for random shapes to be banned then I can safely say it's ok to ignore them.

I mean it most likely refers to "Zapad" which is the romanization of West in Russian with "V" being "Vostock" for East, so they do have meaning however the title Z in ffxiv doesn't share that meaning. obviously.
