okay calm down satan
Can we stop injecting real life politics and events into literally everything?
It's clearly not a reference to that.
Also this wouldn't even be a discussion if it wasn't something that became a trendy thing to talk about on social media, we're like entering stupid territory here of people freaking out about the ok hand sign or accusing everyone who's a Norse mythology enthusiasts of being sussy.
Or uh, having a shaved head to nazi skinheads...
( Yes people do that, I've shaved my head since I was a teen and have had multiple occasions of people doing that. One was even violent and I was attacked by '' activists '' on my way to the cinema with a friend... Ironically enough an immigrant friend from school... )
Are we supposed to remove the letter '' Z '' from the alphabet too?
There is absolutely zero context of it ingame that ties it to any ongoing conflict.
So sick and tired of these black and white ways of viewing things even without any context that would make it problematic.
If people see some random person doing the ok hand sign or a Z in a game and their minds jump to this stuff then GO AND TOUCH SOME ACTUAL GRASS HOLY SHIT THE BRAIN ROT PLEASE TAKE A BREAK FROM SOCIAL MEDIA AND TALK TO SOME REAL PEOPLE.

The AP was a mistake. At this point just throw it all into the games I play since I don't play games for entertainment or to escape the horrible world we live in. Please devs, I want to be reminded of all the horrible things in the world so just throw it all in there!Z is just one of the several identifications in russian army... It's just that this symbol was just most prominent in the news. So people just hyped it up to be equal to entire russian army.
Imagine they were using greek letters and Omega was the most reported on. Should then the omega-raid be renamed?
There is no evolution
And you should be burned just for suggesting that there is.
Also Russophoba seems to becoming a real thing given all the uproar about a letter.
Ye, I can think of couple cases which has ruined my view on beautiful things since it instantly reminds me of those groupsWhen a group adopts a symbol they want it to be theirs and only theirs. They want it to stand for them or some aspect of what they do. They want you to think of them when you see that symbol. Some go so far as want other people to be afraid to use it for anything else but to represent them. When those who commonly use the symbol give up using it and agree it now belongs to that group, the people give up a part of their culture and their everyday life so that group can have an ideological safe space. That group now owns a small territory in everyone's mind. The common symbol that was part of everyday life becomes a symbol of that group alone.
There was a thread like this not too long ago. SE deleted it because apparently it got a bit too heated.
Zed's dead, baby.

On topic, humans should stop letting the Internet raise their kids. No tablets when you're 2, no TikTok when you're five. No, nope and no way.
Why? Because the Internet teaches nothing about dealing with your own internal pain and disappointments. Instead of teaching people how to handle the feeling that arises when some trivial circumstance "bothers you," the Internet teaches people to post a diatribe somewhere and wait for the likes.
Problem? One can get likes for anything... even the most depraved, disgusting ideas, or fears that are nonsensical and unfounded. With 7 billion people around, you can get some people to agree with anything. ESPECIALLY wacky theories or antisocial solutions to problems.
Before Social Media: "This is bothering me. I'll talk to my (parents / siblings / friends / doctor / teacher / etc.) and they'll help me work it out."
After Social Media: "This is bothering me. I shall post my problems on the Internet, dig in and insist that I am right. Everyone who doesn't think like me is a troll."
DEAR HUMANS: Bring your issues to another human in-person. Preferably someone more mature than yourself, and let them teach you how to handle it.
Not, "Dear Reddit, ZOMG this (thing) needs to be removed from (part of life) because in this circumstance here, it has a bad connotation."
In 100 years people will look at social media the way we look at 100-year-old ads for bottles of Bayer's Heroin ("Recommended by more doctors!") or seventy-year-old ads for Chesterfield Cigarettes ("Smoked by more physicians!"). That is, with disgust. And disbelief we ever thought these things were OK.
Social media is messing us up badly, as a people. We're losing our ability to rationally deal with nearly anything.

"If you pay attention to the world, it's an amazing place. If you don't, it's whatever you think it is.” – Reggie Watts
I do think having it as a title is a bit of a thornier issue than some other contexts, since it's something that people "wear" on their character like a badge, and it runs both ways with people potentially doing it to be political and people not wanting to use a levimitately wanted title in case they come across as political in a way they don't mean. It's different to something that was already built into the narrative.
It's generally a difficult thing when a group (good or bad) takes a symbol and then it becomes strongly associated with the group while you're still trying to use it in other contexts.
