    Weren't the towers an extension of Anima? They couldn't exist before Anima.

    sort of. garlemald tower is a physical thing so animas summoning had to come after building it. the other towers are an extention though since they were made using the emperors body parts and those only appeared after the main tower was completed.

    so imo its more like: garlemald tower completed-> gathers aether with the emperor as the focus-> summons other towers that feed aether back to garlemald.
