It's a favourite part of the job for me, really makes the skills pack more oomf having that wind up and helped keep a busy feeling. Hope they reconsider and fix shoha 2 etc instead...
Wanted to add my two cents as well, please don't remove Hissatsu: Kaiten! It's a satisfying ability that feels incredible to use. A great way to manage our kenki, the awesome animation, and it filled in the gap between finishing the sen gauge into using Iaijutsu. All around it's a very satisfying and necessary ability.
I like the feel of hitting that bottom for increased big damage. I'm honestly kind of sad it's going.![]()
Kaiten is not complex. It is exactly the right button to cull from the job because all it does for gameplay is it makes you sit on kenki until you hit 35 so you can always kaiten a iaijutsu. This is not complex, or exciting and it's loss doesn't even really change anything, since you will still want to sit on 10 kenki for movement skills so you're still building to 35. It is the most no-thoughts button in the job.You saw how they removed all complexity from summoner? That's the cannary in the coal mine. Every job is getting that treatment. Every job will become so simple that newborns could play it. People will defend it by saying "but the damage is now added to the skill alwasy" yeah and it feels worse to play. This is the future of ffxiv.
I don't even really think it looks all that cool since it's an ogcd so it gets clipped constantly. It certainly isn't as cool as the big damage numbers you see from auto-crit midare+analogs. It also makes the hw content not feel like trash since you don't generate enough kenki to kaiten every iaijutsu you use, which is a nice side benefit.
they should at least add the sword twirling to the start of the iaijutsu animation because that always flows nicely, especially with the cut off animation but overall I think it's a fine button bloat cut even if there are others that could/should be cut before it as already mentioned in the thread, the continuation comparison I saw earlier I wouldn't really agree with because continuation exists there more to make you think of your weaving windows especially with defensives (even if I personally would honestly like it to be gone because I hate how weave heavy the rotation for gunbreaker is as an australian still playing on NA servers)
So many easy candidates for button bloat reduction and this is the solution? The way it flows into our Iaijutsu is what hooked me onto the job to begin with, not everything has to be about numbers. 'Oh its not complex, oh its just a chore button to hit everytime you go to hit Iaijutsu', so what? An ability that fits into the identity of the job and makes me FEEL like a SAM surely has some value. The one thing that would ever get me to drop the job and they somehow managed to do it, bravo.
...And not Senei? Or Shoha 2? They're arguably more thoughtless than Kaiten, why not delete them first?Kaiten is not complex. And guess what will happen once Kaiten is removed? Mindless Shinten spam, aka as it was during SB release. There are other abilities that can be culled or merged to literally achieve the same goal of reducing bloat without impacting the class' core mechanics or identity. Not to mention that this goes against what the devs have said about not wanting SAMs to spam Shinten; or its anti-synergy with other classes such as DNC or DRG during buff windows. Your comments that it won't impact anything are disingenuous at best, or ignorance at its finest. You talk about complexity but have no inkling as to what the changes will most likely bring about.Kaiten is not complex.
