well... they coulda stacked buttons like they did with Hien in that one duty.
Or Thancred.
So Kaiten can live on instead and nothing about the rotation would really change.
But nooooooo. They had to bury Kaiten for that.

Except Kaiten wasn't bloat. It contributed to how you managed Kenki so you didn't have to blow it all on Shinten mindlessly. Even if it was the case, they still didn't even address SAM's real button bloat with Ogi Namikiri being separate from Ikishoten, Shoha 2 being its own button for no reason, Senei, etc.

SAM has couple of bloater buttons. Shoha 1 and 2. (Their dmg could be added somewhere else). Third Eye, Cure 1 and so on.
Removing Kaiten is stupid since its their core ability.

So all Classes should lose their cool or engaging gimmicks or abilities just because console controllers are horribly limiting?
Totally agreed. Pre-EW, I didn't bother touching Monk or Sum cuz they were annoying to play with. Post-EW, they are now my more frequently-played classes.
Please, for the love of all things decent, don't say that. Summoner went from the most complex DPS in the game that was adored by endgame players to something so simple you can't mess up unless you refuse to press buttons. There's nothing wrong with being a casual but "flashy lights and big monsters make me happy" is a terrible defense for it.
Guess I'm in the minority because I think the new SMN is crazy fun to play. In fact, it's in my top three most fun jobs to play in the game. You saw how they removed all complexity from summoner? That's the cannary in the coal mine. Every job is getting that treatment. Every job will become so simple that newborns could play it. People will defend it by saying "but the damage is now added to the skill alwasy" yeah and it feels worse to play. This is the future of ffxiv.

Turn off BFX for a while and you'll figure out it's just spamming 1 then spamming 2. There's no depth to it at all and it's somehow even more shallow than healer gameplay. It just has a metric assload of particle effects strapped to it to try and hide how shallow the gameplay is.
