New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

yeah, here's to hoping they'll add more detail to skin models too not just update the texture, but the actual skin tones.

God I wish they would have just done us some nice racial unique hairstyles for viera and hrothgar. I wanted my shared hairstyles, that we paid for, but the quality we are seeing is just not how I imagined it back then.. At this point, I would have gladly traded them for racial unique styles, but, then again, what would the quality have been for those.. if this is the quality for these?

Well on this, I think it is important to touch on this part and provide an explanation.

Well, this time we added hairstyles for Hrothgar, and I do want to make a mention on Hrothgar's specification one more time and talk on this. You see, Hrothgar's head part is actually and completely exclusive. Because of that we can achieve that kind of quality and realise the features of Hrothgar along with their hairstyle. Because of this speciality of theirs, Hrothgars originally cannot have hairstyles added...and that was what I mentioned at the start but since then we receive comments like "I want hairstyles to be added" so we tried to accommodate that and we did added it in, but with the condition where the ears are hidden "within the hairstyles" while maintaining the structure of their head. If that's the case, we thought we can gradually start adding hairstyles on them and that was the plan, but now we received a lot of voices saying that it somehow became weird that they don't have ears....

Hmm...well this is something that we're struggling here, currently. Well if this is about an update to XIV...of course this is going to be compared somewhat but even as I say that, we did indeed try to accommodate by adjusting the hairstyle to match the head shape and whatnot but if what we get here was "no this wasn't what we meant" each passing day, then we do have to step back and rethink....well, this will cause the frequency of (hairstyle) addition to drop, but maybe we can create specialized Hrothgar hairstyle that match their head shape? Though this will come in very limited numbers...ummmmmmm....

I mean we indeed made it clear and because we did that we knew just how hard creating Hrothgar is. Creating hairs and furs for Hrothgar is honestly really hard...no joke. ......Hmmm, what should we do...Right, it is indeed troubling...Well even if you tell us to hurry up and find a solution we can't do that because it indeed takes time for us to. So I would appreciate it if you can send us your feedback to the official forums so that we can look into it. The people in the community team will gather and round up the feedback and report to the team. Once again, I want people to understand that the head shape of Hrothgar is really unique and specially made here, and we created and implement them this way thinking the Furries will be happy with this, so I'll be happy if please can understand that it's done completely different from other races in the game.

Well hopefully they figure this shit out sooner rather than later. Bonus points for SE if they can avoid screwing up Frothgars as well.

I think they will learn from this if they will make the female version of the Hrothgars.

I'm someone who is mildly interested in making/fantasia-ing one of my alts to female Hrothgar. We already have a sector of the playerbase who wants them to be femroe 2.0 if not bulkier, combine that with practically no hair options and the ears disappearing and what we have is a mess. Forget talk about a decent build, why on earth would I want to play a lioness/tigress that has no ears? If I want an "animalistic face" why don't I just go play Hellsguard femroe?

I remember when so many people pushed for Viera/Hrothgar players to just be patient or else we were considered toxic back when they launched in the state that they did, this is what not holding them accountable enough results in. At the very least the male Viera crowd fought tooth and nail to get what they wanted, the same cannot be said for the infighting of some male Hrothgar and female Viera players who silenced others only to still find themselves in this situation in =

It's unfortunate that the JP forums aren't welcoming to us posting in there, we have no indication that the devs are actually reading our threads over here. I'm just throwing JP comments into DeepL and "liking" the ones I agree with, but this level of interaction just feels awful.

Maybe some kind JP Hroth can make a specific thread for us to dump all of our translated feedback so it doesn't impact the flow of their conversations in the main threads

Tbh considering that some Japanese players assume that only the non-Japanese voices count, just as well as many non-Japanese players assume that only the Japanese voices count, I'm fairly sure they draw feedback from both sources.

While I don't discourage reading the JP forums I also would suggest to not look too deeply or to believe everything written.

People in our own thread are misunderstanding eachother and we all speak English and just like this thread, there is wild speculation and imagined scenarios.

... and truth be told, it can be considered rude if one does more than that but if you insist on posting in there try to be respectful.

They have no actual right to stop Non-Japanese people from posting as long as you put genuine effort into attempting to reply in Japanese, however that does not mean they have to reply to you or anyone else. In any online discussion there will always be someone who is looking for a reason to voice their displeasure and a non-native speaker is unfortunately an easy target.

Take what you read with a grain of salt and if you insist on posting there, keep it short and simple and ignore anyone who appears annoyed or aggrivated by your presence.

If anything, unsettled JP players tired of all the non-native Japanese posters would likely increase the priority of the issue, but... don't give them a reason to hate non-JP players.
