I mean i agree with you all, i’ve raised my support for you guys, but i don’t think that warrants trying to compare basically cancer to….an earless fictional game character. People can feel and think however they want about their character, and i mean tbf, every race is made fun of in some way. Highlanders with their eyebrows, lalafells looking like children, etc etc. I can understand the annoyance of people poking fun of what is essentially, hrothgar players getting the short end of the stick yet again, but the blame is to be put on the devs and their laziness. And hey, look at it this way maybe, the people spouting the earless joke may help get the hairstyles and ear problem more traction.I just love my character, as well as the Hrothgar race in general. They're cool, they're different, their lore imply regality and chivalry despite... moments... and their animations are a mix of feral with gentle giant.
And it feels really bad that I can't fully enjoy it as other races can. It feels bad that I can't fully customize it like others can theirs. It feels bad knowing the only way to do that is to resort to break the Terms of Service of the game I'm otherwise enjoying very much.
It feels bad knowing that no matter how hard we ask for it, changes aren't coming or if they are, they're delayed and low-effort. Because of this perceived notion that we're just 2%. Which I'm sorry but... eff off? 2% sure, but go on the Eorzea Census website. Hrothgar are considerably numerous when it comes to players that have reached endgame. We actually care about playing this game, same as you.
And it also feels bad having some particularly malicious comments from the rest of the playerbase just because this is who I like playing and not Lalafell, Hyur, Miqo'te or what have you. And I do mean downright malicious, not the usual "lol lalafell are food" comments. Because that isn't about character identity, it's just getting crap for liking something others don't. "Oh but you're furries", yeah and you're some saint for playing Hyur <,<
Meaning that yes, we get defensive and yes we get this upset.
So what if other people feel bad about a character the devs encourage to feel connected to? I've had a Miqo'te friend tell me that she finds her character an idealized version of her. More than an avatar, it was a model that represented her. Some people enjoy their characters as extensions of themselves, where they pour effort and personality into something that they find characterizes them. And some use their character to represent them online. I'm sure plenty of you also have quirks.
Yeah, but you have to understand there are two reactions. Not everyone will be in the mood to joke. I've joked about it. I call the 2B Hairstyle image "Colgate Ad Reject" because it frankly looks like a really bad toothpaste ad that never made past QA. But sometimes I just feel stuff like tiredness and exasperation. Of having to expect more and more low effort and eye-rolls from the dev team. And of having to repeat myself to justify why I'm not happy.I mean i agree with you all, i’ve raised my support for you guys, but i don’t think that warrants trying to compare basically cancer to….an earless fictional game character. No one should be comparing cancer to a fictional game character. And I haven't seen it. If you have seen it, then it's likely some minute thing. I HOPE people are intelligent enough to distance the game from real life...
But it doesn't discredit how upsetting it is. For a player, having to endure all that and then be told "it's fine, this is a good dev team, they'll care, and the community truly is nice" over and over and getting nothing. It may feel personal because a character is personal, at the end of the day. And seeing comments that dismiss players for playing a race like this, and having gone this far for what we ended up getting feels personally irritating.
idk about other people, they may have their reasons. But I don't think anyone's going that far.
IMO the Lalafells that do this are the worst, do they not remember that before Hrothgar they were being portrayed by the community as Pedos and other horrible stuff. Now that the shoe is on the other foot they can't even have some empathy? And it also feels bad having some particularly malicious comments from the rest of the playerbase just because this is who I like playing and not Lalafell, Hyur, Miqo'te or what have you. Hrothgar also have to endure similar stuff. Not to the extent as Lalafell were a while back... I do remember that time period. They're still hit with comments, but usually people just go for "don't sexualize them" and find it gucci.
But I have seen people equating Hrothgars with Bestiality\Zoophilia. Yes, in-game.

If there is any access to an earless hairstyle without paying money, I will consider making a character specifically to draw attention to it. "Earless Fixpls" or something.
Hah. I was debating that. They always do little live stream duty commenced things where they're in-game and I debated just making an earless hroth and showing up. Not saying anything of course, just... visible and as uncomfortable/flamboyant looking as possible to draw attention.
It's simple. Go full pink\yellow, as garish and fluorescent as you possibly can. Make him be max height so you'll only be out-towered by Roegadyn. Do /cheerjump because red is usually a colour that attracts attention. Wear nothing but Shisui pants so your fur is fully visible; you'll look like a bloody meme, but if that's what it will take, so be it!Hah. I was debating that. The post you responded to me about was comparing calling hrothgar earless to making fun of someone who went through chemo. Cheerjump would mean buying from the cash shop, wouldn't it?It's simple. Go full pink\yellow, as garish and fluorescent as you possibly can. Probably best to avoid that if you're attempting to make yourself visible to protest against something.
