You know I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they may have flubbed lol. Especially because their past posts express a lot of disappointment with the hair. But also they suggest the same thing in another thread, so.. very weirdchamp move lol. In my heart I want to give them benefit of the doubt and just think of it as either language mix-up or mistaking fantasia for the aesthetician :P

Thank you for sharing this. I was a bit afraid that after the Q&A the majority of people would forget about this issue. Am gad to see people like Zepla still being on our side

    Mr Yoshida,

I think the problem with Hrothgar is a fundamental one. I say fundamental because from the beginning it was created with the idea that it would not be designed with the ability to enjoy the same customization options as the other races in the game.

As such the problem began in the concept stage, the decision taken before the models were even created. Now I know this was done not with intention of shorting players but giving them options. However the community has made it clear that what they want with their race is equality. Every complaint stems from these races being unequal in customization with the others. Now that you are facing outcry from the players and you are seeking feedback my suggestion is the following:

It is too late to simply correct this issue. What you are trying to do is fit a different concept into an established development cycle that exists for the other races. Not unlike trying to fit a square into a triangle shaped hole. Therefore, if you want to fix this issue fundamentally, in the way I think the playerbase wants you will have to put on pause everything regarding hrothgar development and redesign the entire development cycle of customization for the races into a new standardized policy that will accommodate all of them. Yes, this is going to take a long time. Yes this will slow down the development of race customization because the existing cycle is already in place and people are used to working under certain guidelines.

In other words, the policy that needs to be instituted and standardized is: If we do it for one. We do it for all (ears and all, as it should be). No matter how hard this may be. And IT WILL be slower. I am not a hrothgar player, and I have no intention of being one, however reading everything it is obvious that this is what the community has asked of you. And since you made hrothgar and offered as an option these are the consequences you must live with.

I am only writing this because you have asked for feedback. And this is mine. Regardless of your decision I like your work and I am a big fan of you.

I appreciate she's talking about it but the fact that we have to rely on someone with a following to do this instead of the devs actually interacting with or even acknowledging the forums is so, so frustrating and I feel a little bad for her.

I'm glad she can laugh about it but... gheez. If square could get its act together she wouldn't feel the need to take time to do this for us. I hope Yoshi-P actually watches her streams/vids and it wasn't just a feel-good "look we're totally fans just like you" relatable PR thing.

Hey, I'm in a Zepla video. I'm famous! In all seriousness though, I'm glad she did a video on this and decided to mention this thread. Thank you, Zepla. You're the best. The more people see how things are, the better.

Now that he's facing outcry on more things than just this, it's the perfect opportunity for him to show why he is (was?) lauded so much. You know, to show there was a reason for it and that it was deserved, rather than people just being excitable fools.

I think it's fair to say most of us are willing to wait a year or two to get some really good quality hair styles. Sure, we will probably never get all of them, but we would love to have a number of them which many users have collectively agreed are popular, such as "Wind Caller".

Maybe have a poll to gauge interest at some fan event, maybe open a survey on the site somewhere. Something that would unambiguously collect that information, then focus on the top 5 or so hairstyles that players want most for Hrothgar, and take all the time it takes to keep the face, ears, and rest of the model's qualities intact.

It hurts to say that we aren't happy with the current options because we know that a lot of work went into it, but it's because we know you value our feedback that we say it at all at a place like this.

I think it's fair to say most Hrothgar players are fine with only having a few hairstyles to pick from, so long as those hairstyles are well made, and while it will take time, there are ways to go about discovering which hair styles are most popular, and then putting them on the roadmap. This is probably the best compromise to be made. This way you don't have to guess and pray that the hair styles you picked are the ones your players want, and you can take all the time you need to perfect these 5 or so hair styles that will probably satisfy the largest number of players.

I really thought this was an April Fool's joke...

A lot of time has passed for that.... hair update
    for Cat Daddies.

I like Mr. Yoshi P and the FFXIV team, but there are way too
many Hrothgar hair mods to accept "Hrothgar heads are
    different" as an excuse.

To be honest... No, just no. If they just convert hair styles, and as lazy as the ones from 6.1, 4 months are more than just enough. Even 2 weeks totally suffice in such cases, but we have the given patch cycles.

With styles from scratch, I would agree more with you.
But we saw, that they weren't able to use 2-3+ years properly, so it will be 6 more lazy copy-pasta in a distant future. So better keep hopes for true racials deep frosted, so they don't rot away.

Don't get me wrong. I'm overall pretty satisfied with the patch, which what I played so far. The adventurer plates are a great time waster, the dungeon reworks are great, etc. So not much to complain from those departments.
Also I see the issues of repairing a system that got shaped around a questionable concept.

But the department responsible for the hairs went full fail, considering how much time they already had, and what was possible to create anew or overhaul.
