Ogi is 2 extra GCDs every 2minute, reducing our Hagakure filler. It's a useful button.
plus it's a cool animation.
You still want crit because critical hit increases critical hit rate and critical hit multiplier.
Since i started to play at the end of Shadowbringers i wanted to stay SAM for Endwalker. I pretty much agree with everything about "button" bloat, they CAN literally merge 3 abilities into one and no one will complain but no ....
I like doing parses because there is little to nothing to do after you clear tier (besides ultimates). With these changes i already see memes that will probably become reality as people would not welcome SAMs in log parties....
Now i dont know what to do, stay SAM or choose between BLM/MNK/DRG .... thanks SE i guess
Why did Sam get reworked anyways it was doing fine imo. Was this just unfinished business so that they can suck all the skill expression away from every job.
Oh this is true, melds are probably going to change much like how WAR has different melds.
So uh, it's gonna make things more awkward for MNK if you play that too.
Warrior still melds Crit first since, it does damage as well as rate. Warrior used to skip DH as that was just rate. There is going to be no difference with SAM, you will still want Crit and you can still meld DH without consequence, as, it is just auto crits, not auto direct crits, unlike Warrior.
Oh, that's right. I forgot crit increases damage as well as crit chance. Well, I might still try for SKS Sam because I kinda miss it. Slow Sam hits hard, but I feel like a slug.
Just wish it wasn't so hard to hit the 2.0 sks tier.
Please DON'T remove Kaiten. It's very important to the flow and feeling of the job. There's plenty of other buttons they could have removed besides this one. Samurai in 6.0 was great, not sure why they felt the need to do this.

Honestly this is getting frustrating. Removing one of the coolest skills in the game Is a terrible idea. Ruins synergy with other jobs, forces every SAM to completely remeld, even further homogenizes jobs. How about just making Shoha upgrade to Shoha 2, and putting ikishoten and ogi Namikiri on the same button?
Hey, All this time I've been watching this forum as a silent reader, especially all things SAM. I'm a SAM main to a fault, and you can consider me as a casual player. Although I've been only playing for 5-6 months, I played quite a lot and most of my time I spend as a SAM.
I appreciate what devs trying to do, I really am. But this feels like a sucker punch out of nowhere. I was about to start my foray into savage raiding but now with our muscle memory literally hijacked, I don't even know what to say anymore. Hopefully 6.1 content will be good enough to justify my sub, because I can already see where this is going, they say they want to reduce button bloat but what they really have in mind is dumbing down all jobs. It just so happens that SAM is taking the L this patch, and I happen to be a SAM main, which gives me a bittersweet feeling when they say they gonna remove Kaiten.
Please, just stop.
I have created a forum account just to feedback publically about this.
Samurai does have button bloat, that in undeniable, and while it's manageable for most right now, it'll get worse later. So efforts to fix that are welcome. But Kaiten is the wrong skill to target to reduce this.
This isn't because Kaiten use is skillful – it's not – and I assume that the numbers will all make sense down the road, but rather because the loop of that flourish of the sword before delivering the key attacks that the entire class is built around just feels good. This is both because the animations work so incredibly well together, in a way that hasn't been topped yet, and also from a purely human perspective: you're taking this short breath before delivering the big hit you've built up to.
In short, while I understand that Kaiten doesn't add much from a purely game system point of view, it is central to the feeling of the class, and will be missed.
