    Elevators in 2.0

    Hello all. I was wondering if the Dev team had a new way of handling elevators in the 2.0 patch? Currently elevators work by walking up to them, going to the interaction icon, then choosing which floor to go to.

    I was wondering if the Dev team had any thoughts of changing the elevators. For instance, would new elevators just be moving platforms that players hop on when they arrived on their floor (example being the Bastok elevators from FFXI). Or will the elevators remain as they are, little cutscenes that take us to a new floor?

    While I know this isn't exactly the most exciting topic to discuss, it was just on my mind.

    I would rather have a platform that goes up and down obviously made to look like a elevator and I would also love for Uldah to be 1 zone and not 2 split zones lol :P. But can't have everything!

    I would as well, with an interaction menu for going to Airship platforms. Since I am assuming the airship platforms are going to be their own zones any way.

    Rather than "poofing" into a new zone.

    No, I don't want the elevators from XI! I always missed those, so I had to run to the other side!

    KEEP THAT CRAP OUT OF THIS GAME!!!

    Just kidding, I totally want that instead of a cutscene! :3

    I think something like on White Knight Chronicles would work well in this game, in that a lift was a platform, but you had to select a lever and pull it to call the lift, then you would get on and select a seperate lever on the lift to move between floors without a cutscene.

    This looks a lot better than the Bastok style always moving ones, and seems a lot more realistic than what we have now.

    Y'know, there's really no reason we can't have a legitimate, realistic elevator. There's a targetable lever you activate to call it. You wait for it. You get on it (likely with other players), you interact with several targetable objects or a single object with a menu to select a floor, and then it behaves the way elevators normally behave.

    Bonus points if there's distinct elevator music!

    While this is a nice idea I think something that capitalizes on speed would be best. For instance in that example you could be stuck in that elevator for 30s (I know that doesn't sound like a lot but most players want to be as efficient as possible) while waiting to get to your floor.

    I do agree though that elevator music would be awesome/hilarious. :P

    Make Magitech elavators where they don't just go auto up and down but where you have to stand on those pretty glyphs in the dungeons to turn them on :P
