    PSA: Don't Use The Item Restoration Service For Currencies

    Here's how it goes:

    You: hey Support I want to exchange this item for another one/refund
    Support: yeah np you can only do it once though is that cool?
    You: yeah
    Support: k delete what you bought then lmk and we'll refund the currency in mog mail
    You: ...deletes the item... ok done
    Support: hmmm thanks but idk if I actually want to refund it lol I'll think about it and get back to you

    Support: <1 week later> haven't decided yet
    Support: <2 weeks later> still thinking
    Support: <3 weeks later> dunno yet lol
    Support: <4 weeks later> still thinking plz keep checking tho
    Support: <5 weeks later> hmmm lol
    Support: <6 weeks later> el
    Support: <7 weeks later> oh
    Support: <8 weeks later> el

    Telling people to delete the item then ghosting them/deciding not to refund is pretty troll regardless how "kind they are" for offering it.

    Uhh... the individual case is obviously a bit weird and after 8 weeks I feel like you should've asked for another person to step in and take over, assuming all of this is true.

    That said, if it is a currency item... why waste the restoration service on such an item? Like what are we talking about in particular?

    The tone the post is written in puts serious doubts that the events actually occurred this way, or at all. GMs don't refund the currency used (unless it's a coffer or totem etc.), they only exchange the item to another of equal or lesser value, yet the support reply is talking of currency.

    I guess it’s ok to tag this as “good to know, ok”. Sorry if this happened to you, but..yeah why would you waste a 1 time account restore on something that is easily farmed and replaced. God forbid you ever accidentally throw away a relic or Mogstation glamours.

    Again if you are being honest sorry..but it screams fiction.

    How you’ve described it is not how it works at all. They roll back your entire account to a previous “save”. They don’t just Minecraft in some “/give player tomestones_poetics 1500”. There is no mogmail of items. You will lose every inch of progress back to where your character was at that backup point..potentially weeks or months back. You might not even earned the tomestones at that point.

    I thought rollbacks were a separate thing to the once-per-account item restore? I haven't used either(?) service but I didn't think they were the same thing.

    Anyway, you can't mail tomestone currency, only gil, and there's nothing you would buy with gil from an NPC that is worth restoring. So it's possible that the GM has made a mistake in saying the thing is refundable and discovered that they can't do it, but overall the story doesn't add up and the "dramatisation" and lack of detail isn't doing it much good.

    I've only ever heard of the full on rollback, so I don't know otherwise- if such an alternative thing even exists I could very well be wrong in my previous statement entirely.

    A rollback is performed when your account has been compromised and you request upon finding out your tradable stuff is gone. It's a time intensive process and if the losses are not that great, it may be better to accept the loss and not lose playtime.

    An item restoration is done for a single item and does not involve rollbacks. You can either have a lost item restored or if the item was bought with a currency, have the item swapped to an item of lesser or equal value. You can also have the totems, coffer etc. restored if the item came from those. GMs never refund the used currency (gil, tomes, GC seals, hunt seals etc.). The exchange process involves discarding the wrong item with the desired item being sent to you via mogmail.

    If you have proof to help back up your claims that would be cool, just make sure to blurr out any identifying information for yourself and who you're in contact with.
