I would not call it dead, it is just.. not as popular and unnecessary to do.
At least on Light DC i was able to help a friend through this a few weeks ago. We queued at the primetime on the weekend and and after 5min we got in with a total of 8 player.

We wiped once at the 2nd last Boss. But we cleared at the end after 45min.
