Incorrect. Current FFXIV community and open-world do not mix. People are scared it will promote botting, yet most people back in 2010 botted Leves and Crafting.
YoshiP is open to all ideas, but sadly the loudest bunch are the ones scared of this game not becoming an instanced playground.

Botting is already done throughout the majority of the community, so I don't see how people would really mind tbh. They already solved the botting problem with HNM though- Large spawn areas and random pop times. If they really wanted to go extreme, they could do what they did with Sandworm and Dark Ixion in FFXI. Personally, I loved scouting for them, so I hope something similar is introduced in the future.Incorrect. Current FFXIV community and open-world do not mix. Hi Libby,
I think it's *precisely* the reason you just stated. The current Raids are in "caves" probably due to the fact that 2.0 is going to redesign the entire World Map / Overworld.
So if they develop Dungeons that are "self-contained" (in Caves / Instances), they can port those over to 2.0 pretty cleanly: With a brand new Redesigned World Map, they can put the entrance to, say, Aurum Vale or Dzemael Darkhold at any "cave" mouth they make in 2.0.
Of course, I'd love to see an "open-air"-type Dungeon / Raid, but with the new Textures / Design / Landmarks, etc. they want to do for 2.0, I can see them holding off on that until 2.0 launches.
I hope so too, I did love Dark Ixion's mechanics. Sandworm was a classic FF throwback too so that would be fitting for XIV.

I am sure that someone else said it already but is that Ultima or Omega in the French pic?

Actually that's interchangeable.
Omega Weapon used the Ultima Model with a re-skin in the FFVIII version.
And again in FFX-2
So the confusion is understandable - and justifiable.
We don't know if we're getting "Omega" or "Omega Weapon" in this game, if the latter, then that artifacts picture could very well be it. More likely to be Ultima though.
