Are you referring to bad in quantity or bad in quality? Because the RNG seeds in this game tend to be terrible.
Sell the Bom Boko for 60 gil.
Buy a crystal of your choice for 40-50 gil and end up 10-20 gil ahead.
Good ol' ocean fishing RNG, where you have to get a bite from a spectral fish, actually hook it successfully, then still pray it actually triggers a current, then further pray you get any bites from fish worth significant points.
I think they should at least increase the odds of triggering a spectral current with each spectral fish caught, because getting a longer current as a pity mechanism doesn't matter if you still can't actually trigger one.
RNG itself is fine by me
but RNG with multiple layers of RNG upon it is what makes me mad

Why do you still want to Penta melding gear?
Crafters don't need it right now because all "new" and "hard" to craft stuff is already extremely cheap on the market board, and not much new will come with the next patch.
For fighting classes you can just use 2 melts because penta meld gear is just really needed in the first 4 weeks.
You need it right now because 6.1 is gonna be new crafting/gathering on left side, if the pattern is same with SB/ShB...Why do you still want to Penta melding gear?

RNG is one of those strange subjects in MMO's, where every time it comes up you'll have a crowd of players who defend it to the death despite not really having a reason why. Usually the arguments are "it's fine", "it could be worse", "you want everything on a plate!", "it's necessary somehow", "it makes rare things rare!" and so on. While a little RNG is staple in gaming, I don't think players even know why they argue for heavy RNG, it's just become ingrained so deeply into gaming they assume it's somehow for the best.
Pentamelding itself is a mess. It's a system in place to burn the thousands of materia that pour into the economy because they've made materia so easy to get. But they don't want to force everyone to use the system, so they make it largely redundant. Since the system is redundant and materia is easier than ever to get, the whole thing hardly works and materia is worthless after the start of a patch. Materia 9 being "worse" than 8's just confuses newer players too. At this point they might as well scrap it.
But no, we'll never see a rework because we're so focused on how the RNG is "fine" because pentamelds are a waste and materia is dirt cheap.
I'd also be happy to see things like EX mounts being available for totems at release, 1 piece of class loot in level cap dungeons, Bozja notes for a high coin cost, instance TT cards available from NPC's and so on. Grind is fine when there's a clear goal. I'd be digging into that content right now if changes like that existed, instead of ignoring them because I can get the reward with Echo or life is too short to potentially waste 100 hours on something that drops in 5 hours average.
You don't. There are no Expert Recipes announced yet and the next combat set isn't until 6.2. The new DoH/DoL set will be mostly worthless for several months. You're better off running maps for an hour and buying the set dirt cheap with gil a few weeks into the patch.
the only RNG that actually infuriates me is getting cap dungeon gear. Atleast with pentamelding i can just easily get more materia and can expect it to succeed in a decent amount of time. With level cap dungeons (Baelsars Wall, the Burn, the Heroes Gauntlet, etc..) its miserable doing them for hours and hours and not getting any closer to your goal, since its complete RNG with no guaranteed drops like levelling dungeons. Yeah blue mage can help with the lower levels but that wont help you do heroes gauntlet for that TEA bis.


I do think it's bs how you can farm dungeon gear for leveling ones but not for level cap. What's the point ? It's not like dungeon stuff is ever useful in any other content than ultimates (after a few patches so you get the perfect ilvl in dungeons) for perfect minmaxing...the only RNG that actually infuriates me is getting cap dungeon gear. Seriously, if you do not want RNG then do not play roleplaying games. And FF14 is not really full of RNG. I know games, which are far more worse in terms of RNG.
