I'm really confused.
The team has been doing a great job and the game is a success. Why should anyone need to be replaced? o_O
All this gloom and doom when things are going well and tons of people are enjoying the game makes no sense to me.

I'm waiting for criterion dungeons and the new pvp to judge, but so far, they are doing a great job at making a good MMO for casuals. Unfortunately for me, it's not enough. FF14 lacks in midcore group content, good healing content, long term content/grind that would last for the whole xpac ( might change with pvp ).
Should they change the dev team because I'm not happy with the direction of the game? Of course not.
Injecting new blood tho? Yes, please. We need more MMOs devs with a real interest in the holy trinity, combat content and long term goals.
The team has done a fantastic job simplifying most jobs, butchering healers over each expansion, ignoring said healers for the past 6 years, and taking 6-8 years to somewhat fix their horrible housing system. But hey, at least the casuals are happy.
Job complexity doesn't always equal fun. Nor does it need to. I think that there needs to be a few jobs with a higher learning curve though, and we do have some of those. But not every job needs to be that way. Healers...yeah, like I've said many times I will never defend their design currently. They need serious help. I pity anyone who players a healer right now. And the next addition to the housing system, as well as the implementation of a lottery, will do absolutely nothing to fix housing. So we are still waiting for something meaningful. lol But yeah, things aren't perfect, but I still agree with the sentiment that the game's doing just fine.
Never said it always equals fun, but when they’re doing something specifically to make more money and make draw in the casual crowd which also inhibits other players at the same time, that’s when it becomes a problem. It’s pretty bad when Yoshi P even went on record to say they had to tweak their original design of Reaper because they had to make sure it wasn’t “too hard.” This mindset is what made healers shit in the first place and yeah, the housing problem is something we’ll probably both agree on, it’s taken 6-8 years just for them to address the placard issue, who knows how many more years i’d ever they’ll actually address the overarching housing problem. I’d say on a meta level, the game is going fine sure. Making tons of sales etc etc. But in terms of content, addressing sales, keeping people invested etc, i think it’s hurting greatly, and i think the only thing keeping the people affected by that subbed atm is no better alternatives. But once a better or equal alternative does come….it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out and how 14 plans to keep its players.Job complexity doesn't always equal fun. Nor does it need to. I totally agree. We're lucky to have the team that we do.
What you think and what actually is are clearly two different things. But in terms of content, addressing sales, keeping people invested etc, i think it’s hurting greatly, and i think the only thing keeping the people affected by that subbed atm is no better alternatives. Imagine being forced to play such a simplified game...logging in every day for years. It's a wonder how people do it.
