Dam, I had a idea for a caster with the exact same motif which I had years ago. Was gonna post about it but then RPR came out and kinda napped a good chunk of my ideas into it. Now this!

While I love the design ethic, I would much rather have it focus on DPS

I don't wanna be a pessimist but I honestly think SGE is the last healer we get.

This idea seems pretty cool though. Another name that it be is Elementalist (FFTA) Of course they're not the same, but Sage was 100% different so why not.

    cool idea.
    But necromancers don't heal.
They control your bruised and battered body and keep them working. Basically the extreme version of extreme overwork because you don't feel pain.
Except that you still feel pain
Until you die and they animate and order your corpse to keep working. xD

I mean... the similarly designed (aesthetic wise) RPR is already a healer *cough* Crest regen *cough cough*

Fun aside, as much as I love reading it in general, I'd still prefer the devs to deal with their current roster's glaring issues. Pun intended.

Will be another healer with 1 dps spell and a bunch of OGC heals.

If they ever make it in to the game.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

As others have said as I will .

This game has been reworked so that healing has devolved into healing as few persons as possible , in dungeons , because most of the attacks are telegraphed and dodged once learned (easy) nobody takes random aoe damage from trash or boss attacks, none throw magic damaging debuffs around . non randomly go for the healer and stun lock them or silence them . no bosses trap/prison dps long enough to make an impact of the fight or reuire emergency healig or the mec kills them:

There's no emergency or intensity in dungeons , you can literally have all npcs just attack the tank and they dont do anything else bar a few cones or circle aoes that dps run out of so the healer just throws a few heals and damages the rest of the time.

The trial/ex its a learn the pattern system and you dodge what you can dodge , healers precast the ones you cant so that the damage hits the heath is replenished and you carry on spamming 1 damage attack

Its pitiful . As creative many ideas for a new healers are , what use would they be in the way the games battles have been changed from raids like coils into corridor dungeons and platform boss fights over the healers we already have??

Sage shows us they could have fixed SCH years ago but they sold the rework as an expansion feature instead.

Probably won't be popular... but I would like to see a shaman healer.

The elemental wheel has been so disregarded in this game, I would find it interesting to have elemental healing that has different effects. I know that it is highly unlikely because that would require unique heals to be created... such as an earth aspected heal includes a barrier.... fire heal might include a damage shield.... water a heal over time... I don't know.

I just think that a non Euro healer that has heals with more heal graphics and effects than just barrier and light aspect would be interesting... and if nothing else eye candy.

I dont see this happening for 1 simple reason only; the archetype u describe here has no roots in final fantasy, all the jobs we have now are derived from actual jobs/classes in other final fantasy games.

    That’s a dumb, made-up rule. :B
Plus, I even list Final Fantasy V’s Necromancer as an inspiration for the job.

I do agree it does feel pretty Necro. It's not really any different than Astrologian being a Time Mage or Gambler.

Having thought more on this, a Necro job just feels really unlikely at this point. I struggle imagining the devs wanting to dilute Reaper's "goth avatar/spirit summon" niche. Like some other jobs: dual pistols, chemist, puppetmaster...I think the existing design decisions have precluded certain archetypes because they already exist in the game, just with some different trappings.

That said, still kudos. I usually don't care for job proposals on these forums because they are even *less* distinguishable from things already in the game. This one at least feels like it could almost work. What if instead of ghosts it summoned pyreflies? Something less...corporeal to better distinguish it from RPR's avatar?
