I've seen the same thing, along with areas of the screen being whited out as if someone took a paintbrush to portions.
If you find graphics settings that help, please share them.

They are still selling on SE Store for Mac...
https://store.na.square-enix-games.c...asy-xiv-online
They should halt that and today I just learned about XIV on Mac app. Thank you!
I see this effect too, on lit windows as seen from outside, and also streetlights, such as those in Elpis; a random fast flickering between completely on and off of the radiant lit state. Even if it settles for a moment, can trigger it again by moving camera
Also on a Mac Pro, AMD FirePro D700
Been hunting for settings which may have some affect on it ...
Anyone putting off updating to the current OSX patch may want to look at the list of security issues this patch addresses to decide if it's worth updating or postponing for now. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT213183
But yes, updating OSX will disable the official FFXIV launcher for mac.
For now I'm holding for an official launcher update until FFXIV patch day (next reset) in hopes it's fixed then, but this is also a personal work computer so I won't be able to delay patching OSX for much longer. :/

Running into the same issue, had no idea it was a problem until after I upgraded.. now I'm stuck up in the arctic circle with a machine that won't play the only source of my sanity lol I wanna cry. I tried the alternative client and it too is having issues with the new patch and they are working to resolve it.
I would just like an official word or something from the support team on this.
Ah well, worse comes to worse... I guess I'll pick up a pc when I return to civilization in two months.
I'm having the same issues, since I updated to 12.3 to use Universal Control. (What's that? Well, it lets you use one mouse across multiple computers, macbooks and tablets).
Anyway, I am up and running now, and here's what I had to do while I wait for SE to fix the launcher that they are charging me extra to use on a mac:
1. As others have said, go to XIV on Mac, do what they tell you to do, if you can't get up and running, use the discord linked on the site. They are very helpful!
2. To help with (not fix) the annoying flickering, turn off Glare and uncheck "Disable rendering of objects when not visible. (Occlusion Culling)". Occlusion culling has been causing Macs issues for a while. For good measure, I also disable Screen Space Ambient Occlusion.
3. Disable sound and only turn it back on once the game is stable for you.
I hope that helps. I've been pulling my hair out ever since I installed 12.3, and this is what has helped me so far. Above and beyond that, that Discord is full of Mac users that know how to get you up and running, too, and like helping you.
Let's hope for a stable fix from SE sooner than later, because 12.3 is going live, like it or not.

If you do decide to try out XIV on Mac it should offer to migrate your existing install so you don’t need to download the game again.
No need to postpone the 12.3 update... 3rd party launcher "XIV on Mac" supports this Mac community. www.xivmac.com

Hi Seathasky, this 3rd party launcher looks brilliant, but I have some concerns about safety. How can I be sure, that my login credentials are not copied and used to cause harm? And how does SE deals with third party launchers? You might post this launcher link in the official forum, but how are the odds, that SE will ban players because they do not use their broken, but official launcher?
We're an open source project, all the code is available for you and the world to see. We also do this in our free time and we aren't getting paid...also our team is 3 people. So my question is this....what is Squares excuse?
You can see the code on our GitHub: https://github.com/marzent/XIV-on-Mac
We're also not doing anything that breaks TOS. We do have a plugin system but it is completely optional. We literally launch the game the same way the native Mac launcher does through Wine. The only difference is our application launcher runs natively on MacOS. We support M1 and Intel Mac CPUs and we keep the graphics API updated. Square has neglected the Mac launcher for more than 2 years. We're the only way to play FF14 on MacOS 12.3 at the moment as well.
It's shouldn't be up the community to provide support for Mac players...but here we are...Square is still selling the FF14 Mac license at full price and neglects us...Just saying..
Your choice to use our launcher. If you do, we have a lovely community discord of over 900+ Mac players, If that isn't enough to prove ourselves, not sure what is.
Have a good day!
