I personally just type “o/“ or “hi” or “hiya” while we’re running to the first pack if I don’t get it out while the barrier is still up. And then a “tyfp” or “tyty” as we’re about to leave. I haven’t noticed any difference in the way people start a dungeon compared to usual. Usually if I have one where we stand at the entrance and don’t immediately set off to the first trash pack, it’s incredibly awkward because no one is saying anything.

    I greet with:
    • Hello
    • Hullo
    • \o/
    • Ciao
or not greet at all when I don't feel like to.

    I bid farewell with:
    • Tyty
    • Tyfr~
    • Take care
    • Or any combinations of the above.
or just bolt out immediately because the rest did the same or because the run was a terribad ones and I just want to get out of the scene ASAP.

Once in a blue moon I'll came across with chatty group. Yet unfortunately so, most of players you see in DFs are potentially those who just want to get their roulette cleared ASAP after seeing said dungeon 100+ times.

If your tank is a WAR they don't even need healing anymore. So type away!

Maybe I'm getting old, but I've run the things at mach 10 so often that I'd rather slow down a minute or two and exchange pleasantries a bit. I barely even see the good old 'o/' and 'gj ty' anymore.

Also, has anyone noticed healers not wanting to heal much these days? Like to the point of just straight up letting you die sometimes?
I mean, sure, WAR is meme tier self-healing, but I'm not playing a WAR, and in my experience even WAR needs the DPS to be chewing through the packs at a decent clip in order to actually get away with not needing a healer.

I greet regardless of which role I play. I also usually do it while sprinting. I also sometimes have a conversation mid-combat if any of my friends are there. I also mostly use auto-translate if things are too hairy for me to type coherent details.
I highly recommend getting used to auto-translate for quicker communication~

So yeah... when tanks run off as soon as the barrier drops, it's really off-putting.
So, one super fringe scenario which could have been resolved by a quick "sec"? You don't need to type out "Dear sirs/madams, I would like to apologize to everyone. A person has shown up at my door and pressed the button that makes a ringing sound. This person is delivering a package which I ordered a few days ago and due to the content it needs to be signed for, therefore I cannot just let them leave it on the porch. I'll only need 2-4 minutes to go to my door and grab the package and sign for it and then I will be able to return and we can get this dungeon started. I hope that everyone is ok with that."

    Just:

    "sec"
    "back sorry, door."

Create a roulette party finder. People will join, you can talk to them, you'll get them through multiple dungeons and can really sit there and socialize instead of building a rapport with someone who will be gone and out of your life in 15 minutes.

Also, is the second part of this post troll bait or something?

Roulettes are only done not to be enjoyed but to be tolerated and are essentially a chore that people do for other benefits. And like all chores you wanna do it ASAP

I see tons of potential in them but the devs continuously refuse to make it anything but a chore. And the attitude for doing them will not change. Hence why so many leave the party after a wipe

However, frequently, I'm mid-typing and the darn tank takes off. Not only now I have to cancel out my text, but I'm playing catch-up with some goon who couldn't wait a couple seconds. I don't tank often, but isn't one of the rules "don't ever leave your healer behind"? It should be.

    end rant.
I'm the tank main now so I'm usually the last one.
I eat food and use xp scroll at beginning then type hello and yeah usually the dps are running around like rabid cats, but you do have to understand they've been waiting in a dps queue for 3 days.

Play tank, party moves at your speed!

When I play as a healer, I wait for no one, run to the front and pull everything if tank is too slow

When I play as a tank, I stop for 1-3 sec at the mombs to make sure I pulled the full group and then I move and I absolutely hate when others pull before me.

I know exactly that the second behavior should teach my first behavior to stop, but it doesnt.

    Humans work like this.

I play on SSD so I have no issue saying hello.

Also If you want time to speak to people, turn back on the cutscenes and then you can talk while the cutscene play because the game doesnt start until everyone finished with the initial cutscene.

There are plenty of activities in life that involve people I'll never see again completing tasks for/with me in a timely & efficient manner, I still exchange the usual 'hello, thank you, goodbye' pleasantries because it's the polite thing to do.

No, the second part is not bait. A lot of the jobs complaints since Endwalker came out have been focused around tanks not needing healers and healers not needing to use their GCD heals, these things are true under a lot of circumstances, but they are not universally true.
