    Where's the fire?

It seems to be a huge issue lately. I queue up and as soon as I get into the instance, I try to go to party chat and say "hello" to everyone. You know. Trying to be nice and friendly. However, frequently, I'm mid-typing and the darn tank takes off. Not only now I have to cancel out my text, but I'm playing catch-up with some goon who couldn't wait a couple seconds. I don't tank often, but isn't one of the rules "don't ever leave your healer behind"? It should be.

    end rant.

Just type hello as you're loading into the instance, and you're now ready to keep up with the rest of the party. Alternatively there is auto walk or follow for the second or 2 it takes to type hello.

this is one reason a lot of people go for shorthand like " o/ ". It's easy to slip in, even as the tank pulling everything.

On this note, I gotta say some tanks pop sprint a little too soon and I've passed them by at a regular pace as they try to pull. And so I wait

I think the optimal time is after tagging the first pack if not mistaken than pop sprint to the next pack allowing for a small amount of times and zero damage coming in until reaching the next pack. (depending on the dungeon and this is just personal optimization >.< )Must agree with this sometimes many pop sprint right at the start while you attempt to summon a fairy. I always try to keep aware of my party sometimes people have potatos for computers or even the loading bug I get sometimes where I will load in so darn slow, and have no clue what causes it but it happens randomly to many people I play with varying different computer configurations too.

You should always pop sprint before you tag the first group. Sprint out of combat is 20 seconds, sprint in-combat is 10 seconds. I imagine that a lot of tanks tag sprint "too soon" so that at the very least the healer has time to pop sprint before the tank actually tags the first group (the tank should make sure the healer popped it though). There's definitely a sweet spot, but the worst times for the tank to pop sprint would be 10+ seconds before they tag the first group or <1 second before they tag the first group.

If they tag the first group RIGHT after they pop sprint, they're going to have ~18 seconds worth of sprint while everyone else will had 10 seconds and it will be harder for them to keep up. If they pop sprint more than 10 seconds before they tag that first group, they may have well just popped sprint after the pull.

I usually pop sprint a couple of seconds before pull and then hold a couple of seconds if I don't see the healer pop sprint.

You give people too much credit. The most ridiculous time I can think of is blowing sprint in Stigmascape before the slide.

As far as proper timing goes, both of you are right. Popping just before you get to a pull gives enough time, but popping after you secure aggro on the first set works too. Some areas like the 2nd stage of Dead Ends will have mobs aggro from further away, shortening your timer and force a bit of a learning curve.

Right, it's rare but there are a handful of dungeons where mobs will aggro you once you cross a particular line rather than when you're in "aggro range", the other big dungeons I can think of that do that are Ala Mhigo, Holminster (specifically the mob that breaks down the fence), and Mt. Gulg.

Healers and dps don't get aggro on trash until they hit something or heal the tank, so there's no problem with them sprinting after the tank hits a group.

Except the tank will possibly be 8 seconds of sprint ahead of them if it's a long pull to the wall. That is the problem. Tank will be there alone fighting, which I know isn't a big deal with the survivability of tanks now, but it's still "not great."
