    Latency issues, lobby error.

    So, after the two events became active, I have had a very high jump in latency. I keep lagging and simple things like logging and just chatting with others seemed to much of a isse for the game at this very moment.

    The latency rocketed to over 5k and nothing on my screen moved, it took me nearly 7 minutes to auto harvest 1 tree. I thought it was on my end, but any other game runs fine, the net is working as it should and I have gone trough a series of updates, reinstalled the game and read what information I could find on the issue, following the steps they suggested.

    After much frustrating with the latency this day I logged off, and tried to log back on later. I encountered the lobby error and the game shut down several times when it reached character selection. It took me over 20 tries and nearly an hour before I got in the game, but I feel this should not be an issue. I am lagging just as much as earlier.

    Is anyone else experiancing something similar?

    Thank you for answering to my post.

    I run FFXIV on/via Steam.
    The error message or disconnecting message is "The lobby server connection has encounter an error" with the numbers 2002 on the bottom right of the message box.
    I am wired connected but can access WIFI if needed.
    The only program I had at start when the issue started was a youtube music playlist that I closed to see if it helped lower the lag (I thought it was my internett at this point but after checking all other program and games ran without any issues and delays/lag)
    The lobby disconnection happens every now and then, it happens before I can see the characters on the character screen. Right after I click start when the game has launched.
    The lag is on all the characters on Crystal servers for me.

    To try fix the issue I have:
    -Made sure all my drivers are up-to-date.
    -Disabled Windows Defender (temporarily)
    -Ran antivirus programs to check for virus, then closed it. (Bullguard) and then check Anti-virus settings for any blockages or network restrictions.
    -Adjusted Windows for “Best Performance” rather than quality
    -Scanned and defrag all of the drivers, the one where FFXIV is located was prioritised.
    -Checked if VPN was active.
    -Only ran FFXIV and no other program.
    -Disabled Firewall (temporarily)
    -Ran FFXIV as Admin.
    -Switched power options to high.
    -Turned all grapics to lowest setting.
    -Tried to run the game in both window and fullscreen.
    -Re-installed the game.

    I understand you mentioned the issue is still ongoing, as such, could you try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Then, disable everything under this tab and restart the PC. Additionally, please be sure to have the Operating System and Internet Explorer most up to date as well. Please let us know if this may help with the issue you are experiencing.

    Various NTT nodes along routes to some world servers have been unstable for two weeks meow.

    NTT node on hop 3 exiting the Comcast ibone is also timing out connections into the instance server for Primal datacenter and likely other NA datacenters as well. As you are on Mateus the likely cause is jump in traffic from event causing unstable nodes to become even more unstable. No moderator will mention this. Perhaps they are informed not to or simply lack understanding of core problem.

    If are using the VPN (you should for ffxiv unless close to CA) avoid routes through Ashburn ohhh and also any routes through Canada. LA appears most stable currently with only minor latency increases. Uncertain which VPN you do use but if do not know how to change routes just select different location for VPN of choice before launching FF14.

    Many threads exist for this issue and tis not difficult to use traffic analysis tools to deduce problem. Simplest method to check is find server ip > open command prompt > enter tracert (server ip) then hit enter. Should see massive spikes upon entering NTT network.

    I've also been dealing with unplayable lag conditions since the new events started. I'm on Primal data center and up until the events started I had a super clean connection with no spikes for years. Now I can't even survive a dungeon because in the middle of a fight everything stops as I watch sending and receiving spike into the thousands. I've checked everything I can with isp and local network and FFXIV is the only place this is occurring for me. Are there any plans to address this or do we know of a work around till it poofs away? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Unfortunately nope! This is issue that must be resolved between Square and NTT. Both corporations appear completely unwilling to even address that there is something fundamentally wrong with their infrastructure.. For moment all you can do is install the VPN then select the most stable route. If using Exitlag may have to swap between LA/CA routes. Both appear to be in constant state of deterioration.

    I was sadly afraid of that.....Any reliable VPN these days? Been a while since I had to used one.

    Am using Exitlag and have recommended that one to the friends and family though tis getting more difficult to find outs around the failing NTT nodes these days

    Others on here recommend Mudfish because is cheaper and that has worked for them. Exitlag is subscription based while Mudfish is pay per data used model. I personally avoid the pay per usage stuffs because we have had terrible experiences with anything that charges per gigabyte. Always run into situations where; oh look *insert vpn here* randomly decided to attach to Chrome while we were watching Netflix and used twenty gigabytes over my plan! How amazing! Rather just give Exitlag their set rate then deal with potential overdraft fees...
