2.0 success or failure

Personally I think FFX-2, FFXIII-2, FFXIV-1 were only bad games. Spirts within.... wasn't FF but could of been betteroff as something else or even improved apon.

After FFXIII, FFXIV, and FFXIII-2, I thought FF had seen it's worst days, and that they could only go up from here.

Haha, what interesting timing for you to open a thread like this! Sounds like yesterday's Requiem of a Goddess release reminded somebody of the frenzied rage that the game's trololol ending sent them into.

It's okay. I'm not poking fun. Trust me, I'm right there with you. Even after the game's final chapters of DLC got released this week, I'm still feeling like the "To Be Continued" ending didn't get continued at all. All it did was rekindle my old feelings of butt-hurt after I had finally managed to forget about them. And I won't even get into how I feel about having to pay five extra bucks to see a game's real ending. Bad SE!

Doesn't really matter how many of you come in and say "but I liked so an so." I'm not even really taking a stance about whether I liked these games or not. In fact I personally am curious about what happens after XIII-2.

But even if you liked XIII, you can't deny that the reception is very mixed to say the least. And though XIII-2 improved a lot of things from XIII, it still sold like 1/3 the amount, which shows just how interested people are in XIII. X-2 performed much better as a sequel. All I'm saying is XIII, XIII-2, and XIV, are the lowest FF has been, and though I thought it couldn't go lower, if 2.0 fails to impress then the damage to the brand Wada spoke of will multiply.

That's not enough, there is competition to think about. It's been two years. And there's always the chance that the new engine ends up being total ass and backward in some way, or perhaps compromising graphics which is like the only thing XIV has going for it.

I'll let you know -my opinion- on 2.0 when it comes out.

2.0 is still FFXIV. It's still SE. You can judge based on what we've seen so far and the general attitude and mentality of SE, such as drop rates and feeding us old images like they are new. You may not think that's a red flag but they should be wanting to show off the awesomeness of their game, not scrounging for old 1.0 pictures to placate us.

When 2.0 enters beta, listen to the testers. I can't stress that enough. Listen to them and don't force the game out the window. If it turns out it's not ready again, don't release it. Give it your all, don't get complacent, and do not repeat September 2010 again because this is your last chance. I know you guys can do it.

I cannot agree with this paragraph enough. I know they listen more now(which isn't saying much because they didn't take one word of advice from beta. Seriously if theres tons to be done hold back on release please!! you already got our subscription, just fix what needs fixing in 2.0 beta please!!

I only bought this game because it was free to play and I liked the new producer, then shortly after 2.0 was announced, then payment came. I subscribed because I liked the additions that were being added, and that things were actually getting done coupled with the promise that 2.0 would fix a lot of the stuff that is still crap.

thats just like.... your opinion man. FF9 ROCKS -this however is fact and should be first or second on that list. actually first. while ff6 was great, it was easy mode all the way through. always use the newest strongest weapon/spell/skill for each character and that alone. and anyway stop making stupid lists

Whatever people here say (hardcore FF fans), this basic truth. SE has had too many losses in the last few years and expectations met with disappointment. Using myself as an example, I am a die hard fan since 1998, I have bought every single FF at release since FF8 and even some older titles too, but after FF13 I have not purchased FF13-2 yet... A first for me and something that makes me sad, for the first time I am choosing western games (Mass Effect, Skyrim, Amalur) over my beloved FF series.

So when it comes to this game all hopes are hanging on 2.0 and I'm wishing fervently that the game soars and give SE some much needed good PR.
