    Honestly?

    I don't really think FFXIV 2.0 will have any meaningful impact on the reputation of the series or Square Enix at all.

    Most Final Fantasy fans do not care about the MMOs, it's a fact. For each guy that loved XI, there's 10 more that never even bothered with it. My point is: If FFXIV 2.0 goes well, it might get some good press on MMO centric sites, maybe a news bit on the major gaming sites and that's it. The general fans will continue ignoring it, and probably still think it is the same lol 4.0 game from release.

    And, what if it goes badly? Well, people will laugh, say "we told you so", places like Kotaku and Sankaku Complex will troll for a while and that's it.

    Now, if Versus XIII sucks, then FF is screwed.
