    Trying to become a Paladin

Okay I hit level 30 and did the quest "The Rematch" according to all the guides there should now be a quest in the Gladiator's guild that I can use to become a Paladin. Sadly I cannot find any such quest... is there something obvious I'm missing?

I'm wondering if I screwed up my character because I bought a level 80 character advance when I started, since I made the mistake of thinking the earlier content would be abandoned. When I saw the situation was different than other MMORPGs I decided to play normally in the time I have.... just thought I'd mention this because I have some concern it might have messed things up.

    Says Paladin's Pledge starts:
    Quest giver Lulutsu
    Location Ul'dah - Steps of Thal (X:9, Y:11)
Which is the Coliseum area in Steps of Thal

Also keep in mind that if you don't see the quest on the mini-map, it doesn't mean that its not there. Sometimes a questgiver has more than 1 and only shows the first quest on the minimap

Have you advanced enough in the main scenario as well? Specifically have you completed the level 20 main story quest Sylph Management? (This requirement for unlocking a Job was added a number of years ago to try and combat RMT bots - buying a class level potion from the Mogstation would not progress you in the story so you have to do this seperately, the main scenario skip potion which is seperate to the class ones will though). This main scenario quest is the one after the one where you enlist in a Grand Company if you're unsure whereabouts in the story it is.

It is however a requirement for unlocking a Job as the Job quest will not appear without having completed this main scenario quest first.

Whenever class or job quests become available, they get a clickable map link below your red and beige meteor banner like this:

As Enkidoh said, job upgrades require completion of MSQ "Sylph Management". Advance your MSQ past that point and watch for the PLD quest map link to appear..

It isn’t the end of the world. All his MSQ characters will get a 100% xp bonus at least. He can bring at least 2 or 3 characters to 80 through MSQ with that bonus if he runs the roulettes every day.

Thanks! This is likely the problem, as I do not remember that quest. I will continue the main quest.

As far as those commenting on buying the wrong potion, I had heard FF 14 had a good storyline, so I wanted to see it at least once, and have some idea as to what was going on. I figured with an overpowered character I could just blitz the content and catch up in a few days like in say "World Of Warcraft". Needless to say this was not the case... and the content wasn't abandoned as I feared, so I am playing properly. I did waste the money in a way, but I did buy the right potion.

At any rate I guess I need to go see if doing some more steps on the MSQ unlocks the quest I need.

ARR started really bad with it's poor voice acting and stalling. Heavensward started replacing terrible voice actors with good ones and Stormblood started obtaining actors on par with JP, or better. Too bad they'll never get Liam O'Brien or Laura Bailey, they're the top god tier English voice actors.

Play with Japanese voices and you'll have a stellar cast throughout.
