Oh.. well on Masamune i got kinda quick into it. Cities looks well crowed.. x_xMaybe it's just on my server then. Despite Aegis being full, it is pretty much a ghost town. Just like Viion I see people shouting for AF, but the numbers are extremely low, like 3/8ish after an hour. I'm not sure how it is on other servers, but unless you managed to wind up on a server with old active friends/linkshell(s), you're in a very awkward position.
Stupid thread, everything in the game right now IS actually content that you will do onne in a lifetime just because there will not be there when 2.0 comes...
Just to put a bit of perspective on this. I came back a couple weeks ago, and have played on and off over the past months, starting with Beta and Launch. I don't have a 50 yet. Why? Getting there ASAP isn't my goal. Taking my time and enjoying myself along the way is. I've always thought the idea of racing to level cap so you can get through all the end-game content (the "real game" according to some) and then stand around bored while you wait for more content to be added is just plain counter-intuitive.considering the last thing that was added that wasnt "endgame" was Sposhae or totorak, and that its "welcome back" inferring you have played before, im thinking most of these people have at least 1 50 job already, or if they dont they are going to be stuck because 99% of the people i know have all 50s or at least 4-5. I got one of my friends to come back and there was no one to help them for AF quests because anyone who actually plays the game regularly got them all done within the first couple days they were released.
It's even more-so in 2.0 where we're going to have a hugely altered gameplay experience, from 1 on up to cap, come 2.0. Why people felt it was important to have all 50s before then, hence trivializing a huge chunk of the in the lower levels right out of the gate, is beyond me, but it's also not for me to decide.
Suffice to say, not everyone has a 50, because not everyone was intent on getting a 50.
So many constructive arguments, thanks for sharing. From May 9 to May 20, former FINAL FANTASY XIV players are invited to experience the vast changes made to Eorzea for free!
During this ten-day period, we invite holders of inactive service accounts to experience the once-in-a-lifetime Seventh Umbral Era content and try out new additions like the job system and the inn rooms that were introduced in Patch 1.21.
SO where is this once in a lifetime content? the battles that have been here since 1.21?? The Raids that have 1/1000 chance of dropping anything worth wearing??? the new Primal that no one fights cuz its "too hard" and no one wants to bother doing cuz anyone who wasnt too stupid or proud got all the items they needed/wanted from it?? I wonder how many people actually came back to check it out, and how many of them are impressed enough to stay
The game will be better now, all thanks to you.
SE designs a campaign targeting players who gave up on XIV or stopped playing for whatever reason at whatever point to come back free of charge and try out the current build for 10 days.
OP, who has been paying and playing and thus isn't part of the target playerbase, expects something out of this as well.
lol...
/thread
You dont need to be 50 by requirement, but go there as level 25 and watch you cry as you're 1 shotted, heck even 30, 35, its pointless. Even 50 is pointless unless there is a group of people because there is to many imperials attacking at once, so you just die too fast.It was already clear since the first annoncement, that "Experience once in a life time Umbral Event" mean until 2.0, because after 2.0 this isn't a part of the game anymore. Nowhere was written it would be a 10 days only event. And you don't need to be lv 50, only a member in a grand company. Because a big part of the event are grand company quests.

Also, we did know about this whole umbral activity, but it was my understanding that the imperial activity changed from time to time, it hasnt been the same stuff each patch, it changed, but this patch, during the welcome back, it was the same garbage as last patch.
Due to this no one does it. lol
The welcome back people only get 10 days to come back and "Experience" this umbral/imperial experience, and sadly what they experienced was not only garbage but un-accessable for us due to low level, and a lot of others.
I would just like to point out that not every one levels as fast as you say... I know a lot of people including myself who have taken ages to levelconsidering you can get any battle class from 1-50 in a week means all of the content between 1 and 50 is meaningless because it will reward gear that is useless a day or 2 after you get it. therefore "endgame" content is the only really content they have to keep people playing. this campaign lasts 10 days so in that time you could get at least 1 job from 1-50 evn if u just bought the game and if you didnt pick the right class (WAR BLM BRD or WHM) you wont be able to do anything efficiently in the final 3 days of your free period.and I still have no level 50.
There's something called socialising... and hanging out with friends.. (in-game of course~) I've spent hours just talking to new people and having fun playing around with emotes..
What's the point in playing an MMORPG when you have no intention of talking to other people? I mean really.. if all you want is levelling and a big bang at the end, go play Final Fantasy I - XII (excluding XI).
I hate it when people only want games devs to focus on levelling fast + endgame .. and then the same people complain about there not being enough content?

OK I had to say something here
I am a glad on durandal as well as a few other 50s
All i can say is dont attack glads if you dont play glad or even know the difficulty in successfully tanking as glad at end game then please don't bother commenting !
People like you will ruin MMOs constantly bitching about lack of content or something simply because the game isnt the game in your own narrow minded world.
If your not part of the solution your part of the problem
GROW UP
