    PS5 crashing every 15 minutes

    Hello!

I've been experiencing increasingly frequent crashing while playing on PS5. I've detailed as much as I can below.

    Types of crashes:

    1. Game freezes and brings me back to PS5 menu. I can then rejoin the game without issue. This kind of crash can happen whenever, but I found it especially common when using the virtual keyboard (which I no longer use).

    2. System abruptly powers off. I have to hit the power button twice to boot it up again. This crash is often followed by the PS5 repairing the drive automatically. Occasionally following this crash, the system acts as though this is the first time I'm using the ps5 (asking for screen sizing and brightness levels).

These crashes can happen regardless of what I'm doing (duties, overworld, cutscenes). At times however, it seems as though the crashing becomes more frequent as the number of players on-screen increases. I tested this by going to Limsa and crashed within about 3 minutes of being there. Regardless, I have crashed with no one nearby as well. On average, these crashes occur every 15 minutes or so, and they've been getting noticeably worse. Just a few months ago, they were perhaps once every few hours.

    Error codes:

    1. CE-108262-9 (software issue)
    2. NP-102937-2 (PSN signed out)
    3. I can't remember the other error code, and my error history has been wiped because I factory reset the PS5 to try to fix this.

These errors don't always occur with the same types of crashes.

    Attempted fixes:

    Reinstalled game
    Cleaned console of dust
    Power cycled
    Turned off HDMI link
    Disabled rest mode
    Enabled performance mode on system
    Enabled performance mode in game
Factory reset (and didn't copy PS4 data)

    Basic set-up specs:

    PS5: Disc version
    Wired connection
    Nat Type 2
    Down: 6.9 Mbps
    Up:8.4 Mbps
    TV: Sony Bravia
    Soundbar: Samsung 2.1 channel

If there's any other information I can provide, I'd be happy to!

    Greetings fellow Eorzean,

If the game shuts down abnormally and you are returned to the home menu, it is possible that the data installed has been corrupted or another issue is preventing the game from running properly. Please make note of any error codes you may have received and try these troubleshooting steps to see if they resolve the issue:

    ■ Perform a system update on your PlayStation®5
Perform the most recent system update and then try a version update for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online.

PlayStation®5: The update can be performed from the home menu by selecting
[Settings] → [System] → [System Software] → [System Software Update]

    ■ Remove peripheral devices to create a simpler environment for the program to run
Remove any peripheral USB devices (gamepads, cameras, microphones, headsets, etc.) to create a more stable, simple environment for your console to run the game. Also consider inserting the devices to different USB ports or removing and reinserting them.

    ■ Re-install FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by re-installing the game.

    ■ Reformat the system to factory defaults.

Should the issue persist, we recommend trying the game on another Playstation 5 to see if the same issue occurs. Additionally, you may wish to contact Sony Support for further assistance regarding any possible issues with the console itself. You can contact Sony Support here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/

We hope this information is helpful.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    Hello Darneltia,

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

My system is up to date. I've already reinstalled FF14, and I've also reformatted to factory settings. None of that seemed to help.

I did remove the keyboard I was using with the game, and that significantly reduced the number of crashes I experience (so far). The system froze up today and I had to manually force a shutdown (error code CE-108262-9), so it seems I'm not entirely out of the woods.

That said, I will continue to monitor the system and in the meantime, I'll contact Sony directly.

    Thank you for your support.

Have you tried running the ps4 version on ps5? The ps4 version runs smoother and has less bugs.
