this is absurd, the mob that spawns will kill you so fast, after smn changes it was never fixed and it its been years.

First question, what's your gear like? Are you using gear that is at, or above, the level of the quest? I remember doing that fight back in HW, and didn't have trouble with it, but some of the job quests I did have trouble with was due to me not having at least at-level gear.
Edit: And I'm pretty sure I didn't switch my egi from Garuda when I did it back then.
Isn't that quest just a mob fight in the overworld?
The issue is that the game assumes you'll be wearing level 60 gear of the item level the Stormblood vendors would be selling at minimum.
if you try to jump straight into any of the level 60 Stormblood job quests using HW leveling gear you'll get floored just from auto-attack damage.
I also did it back in the day without using Titan-egi so I'm inclined to think that's not the main problem.

First, I'm wearing full level 60 ilvl270 hw gear, when the quest came out it like ilvl170 max back then. Second, the quest was made with the idea of using a pet to tank, specifically titan. It hits you one time and takes over half you hit points and drops a dot on you. tried to kite but it has range and range attacks take 1/3 hit points. the issue is the quest was never updated with the first smn update when you lost control of pets. apparently the only way to do it now is to get a friend to tank it or wait till your level 70.
It’s definitely not an easy or simple quest because that mob hits way too hard. I finally managed to get past it by getting some better gear and having my Chocobo help me, and even then I think I had to resummon my bird at least once because he died before the fight was over.
I did this quest a few months ago when I was leveling smn to try it out in its new form. The way I did it was using my chocobo and kiting. As a smn, you have a lot of mobility when casting, so keep moving and don't use ifrit.
