UI question...HP bar

Over the HP bar, there is a little icon of what appears to be a sword beside a word.... The sword's direction seems to change and the word goes from "Others" to something else.....

What do the icon and word refer to....I've been looking in UI guides for days and found nothing that mentions it....

It refers to the target cycling feature. If enabled it lets you select which categories of targets will be cycled through depending if the weapon is drawn or not. Not sure about the specifics, but generally related to targetting.

It can be disabled for a cleaner looking HP bar.

It affects which target filters are used (but only by the controller targeting feature). It does not affect the tab targeting. However, you can bind tab to use this type of targeting in the keybinds, but I forget how because it's a bit of a workaround that rebinds the gamepad.

The problem with this targeting is that it soft targets, but a feature was recently added to make it hard target instead. This is found in Character Configuration, then Control Settings on the Target tab as "Switch target circle to target select". The filters are under the filter tab.

You can use the click filters by holding X and you can adjust the filters for it under the Target tab.

Thanks for the info.....might be something I need to adjust, as I often find the "tab" has me targeting random teammates or NPC's rather than the MOB right in front of me.... lol

If you want to target something right in front of you, use one of these keybinds:


(These are not default, but you will use TNE and TNNOO so often that everyone should bind these to something close to resting hand position)
