Bunch of questions... first what ARE those bongo's I seem to have been hearing more frequently than I used to?

So I have a collection of music rolls I have been getting all along, plus a TON of faded ones... am an ALC so I can repair those. I got a crafted Orchestrion item for my FC room... but I am having issues figurting some of it out... biggest one is I can't seem to get it to simply play in the background. Oh I can choose stuff and have it play WHILER this huge window takes most of my screen up, but as soon as I close it, boon, music gone. Poked all around it, but can't figure out how to make it play without being open... OR is this ALL that crafted item can do?

While you have your orchestrion list open with the furnishing item, your first click is previewing the music.
Click it again to actually have the orchestrion play the music for realsies.

I was concerned because it kept warning me about messing with the estate’s BGM… until some one told that was not the FC house, but my room. Not the first time I have stumbled on the lack of clarity in the translation!

I still find those bongos disconcerting. It’s like a little 6 note ditty and happens on matter what I am doing. Anyone got any ideas?

The only bongos I know of are those that are attached to the attention grabber of <se.6>. Normally only being used to bring attention that Ancient Flare is about to happen or an important fight mechanic is happening. Though I do think there are bongos people can use while playing songs via Bard performance.

OMG, that is exactly the audio I hear... now the question is why am I hearing it so frequently. I can NOT seem to pin it down to any specific action, it can happen while absolutely nothing is going on. It can happen during fights, it can happen while I am running... right now I entered /echo <se.6> and before I even hit return, the bongos sounded (and repeated when I hit return). How can I best run this down? Maybe try and get a message to a Game Master?

If it is not someone in the chat channel you are in using that <se.6> command, then you have likely assigned a certain chat channel (Party, FC, Shout, LinkShell#, etc...) that Sound Effect as an option for that chat type.
As in, in the chat options, you have one or more chat type with the sound effect enabled on it, so each time you get a message from that chat type, it plays the sound effect.
Look through those options.

I was thinking after I made that post that I should check my keybinds, nothing there. Some FC chat was going on right now and boom, bongos. Not idea how it came about, but in Chat Settings/Notifications it was set for bongos for FC! Turned it off as my FC every now and then can get REALLY chatty.

Yeah, it's definitely not worth having sound notifications turned on for FC. I think I just have sounds for party, alliance and "emotes directed at you".

Look in here for any highlighted boxes and the number of the sound effect - In this case, bongos are #6. That is likely the cause of bongos going off when you have FC chatter happening etc. I usually only leave it on for tells to notify when poked.
