Well it's the model SE take. They make lots of shirt loved content that they need to do non stop over content that will last longer.
...and yet the upcoming mini patch is adding custom deliveries and beast tribe quests. The former of which is a weekly task and the latter of which is a daily task.
I'm by no means a fan of the direction WoW has since gone in, though it didn't always lean heavily on busywork and it has at least consistently kept an open world intact in order to encourage exploration.
Which is only one facet of the updates this game gets over the course of each patch. WoW literally only gives you that one patch of content and does nothing for 12 months....and yet the upcoming mini patch is adding custom deliveries and beast tribe quests. FF14 is an MMO. One time quests or content is fine but it just adds nothing to the mid/long term experience most MMO players are looking for. I wouldn't mind if the game was F2P, really. But with this horrible housing system, that forces you to keep paying, it'd be nice to have something to do on top of it, not just afk for 3.5 months waiting for the next content ( which will be really cool, I can't wait for 6.2 with new raid, relic weapon, criterion and new trial serie).
I don't understand, for example, why we can't start working on relic weapon in x.1 patches. Or you know, allow us to farm the new alliance raid to gear our other jobs. The 590 gear lock is just absurd when we're all aiming for ilvl 600.
It would, for sure, keep many of us busy while waiting.

They space out content so all playstyles are given adequate time to finish things and not feel rushed. If there's not enough for you, can dive into older content or take a break till the next patch. A lot of people use the downtime to work on achievements, level alt jobs, clear old raids or even basic stuff like stockpiling mats for patch day crafting & gil making. Find something else you enjoy doing or take Yoshi's advice and turn to a different game for now. You won't miss anything.

erm, am i the only one who remembers that Yoshi-P explicitly told the community to take breaks from the game to avoid burnout? They have never built the game around the idea of *always* having something to do. they actively encourage players to play other games between patches

They should remove the sub then and make the game buy to play. There is no real purpose in it. It would be more consumer friendly.erm, am i the only one who remembers that Yoshi-P explicitly told the community to take breaks from the game to avoid burnout?
