4 months is great, especially coming into this as a newer player. Almost 2 years between expansions means there's time to get caught up.

I joined in summer of 2019. Everything was capped and I had all my EX trial mounts before EW. I spent the first month or so of EW getting all my 10 levels. Now, I'm chiling out and working up the tank achievements and building up a good stash of materia and crafting goods for the next update. I finally have the time to work on my fishing log and can do so at a casual pace. I'm also helping out friends with less free time get caught up.

I've played MMOs for a number of years and I think this is a near perfect schedule for updating content. Where other games have spent a year working on content that most finish in one month, XIV keeps things going at a pace that's good for the players and (more importantly) the developers.
